The Alhambra is a palace and fortress complex located in Granada, Andalusia, Spain, originally constructed as a small fortress in 889 CE, and then renovated several times. It is considered to be the finest example of Islamic art left in the western world.

We were lucky enough to get to visit the Alhambra, but we were on a tour and it was crowded, and there was no way to appreciate all the details and nuances of this amazing complex. This guide, which covers the relevant history, art, architecture and religion associated with the Alhambra, is terrific for filling in all we missed.

It is richly illustrated, with 420 color plates, as well as photos, drawings, maps, and more information than you could believe could be contained in this relatively small guide. It was probably the best 9 euros we spent on the whole trip. Highly recommended!… (más)
