This is the sixth book in the Alice Hussey series from Chimera and it marks a bit of a departure from the previous books. It is the first in the series to be written in first person and it also has left behind most of the characters from the previous books, aside from a short interlude with 'Uncle Richard'. Sadly it is still not a return to the form of the first three books in the series which I consider to be some of the best cp oriented smut that I have ever read. That's not to say though that it's not a good read, it is, and I found Alice's tentative first steps into the sex underworld of late 50's England compelling enough that I'm looking forward to the next volume. I also enjoyed Alice's new found brazenness and confidence. Lets hope 'Surreal' gets it out quicker than the three years it took to get this out. Definitely recommended to cp enthusiasts!… (más)

The first three of the Alice series by the surreally pseudonymous 'Surreal' set a new standard in the genre of erotic literature that involves erotic chastisement. Although they explored a wide range of scenarios involving attempts by men to dominate the (apparently orphaned) Alice, the plots remained credible and 'hit the spot' when it came to supplying the erotic thrill of their speciality. 'Fallen Angels' appears to be the fourth in the series, and the change in cover style is by no means all that has changed in the considerable interval since its predecessors. This book even invites speculation that the baton of authorship has been passed on. In this book, Alice is employed in a female correctional facility, although the punitive distinction between female staff and inmates is scarcely distinguishable. Hughes, the Governor, acquires a further male staff member, apparently previously a partner in shady activities, and between them they dominate the facility's draconian and arbitrary chastisement regime, dealing with a bunch of exceptionally strong willed young women. Chastisements meted out by staff and inmates are particularly extreme, and several unresolved plot threads are begun. I felt that it didn't quite match the original books, but that it nevertheless stands as an excellent example of the (M/F, F/F) CP genre.… (más)

This is the third volume of what is currently a trilogy, starting with ‘Alice – Promise of Heaven, Promise of Hell’, and continuing with ‘Alice – Shadows of Perdition’. It helps to read the three in order, although this isn’t essential. The novels are excellent examples of the ‘erotic flagellation’ tradition, almost exclusively having female recipients, but with both male and female wielders of the instruments of pain, principally made of either slim bamboo or thick leather. The series follows Alice, orphaned in her teens and in the charge of a repressive uncle. In the earlier volumes, Alice has come to appreciate, even crave, the vigorous application of pain to her rear parts, and in this instalment her requirement is further refined into a more refined need for humiliation. In her search for truth about her real parents she takes a position in an ‘educational’ establishment for wayward young ladies, and with a little blurring of the boundaries between staff and inmates there are many opportunities for her erotic predilections to be satisfied. As in the earlier books, the pseudonymous ‘Surreal’ demonstrates an expert grasp of the requirements of the genre, and even manages some moments of genius in understanding the subtle interplay between dominants and submissives. One of the less attractive tendencies of the genre is for the punitive episodes involved to become eventually so extreme that even the most devoted follower risks being left behind, his/her bubble of erotic credibility irreparably pricked, but (at least for me) ‘Surreal’ manages to avoid this pitfall. Well up to the standard set by its predecessors.… (más)

This is the second volume of what is already a trilogy, with promise to go further. It helps to read the three in order, although this isn’t essential. The series so far starts with ‘Alice – Promise of Heaven, Promise of Hell’ and at the moment it concludes with ‘Alice – Lost Soul’. The novels are excellent examples of the ‘erotic flagellation’ tradition, almost exclusively having female recipients, but with both male and female wielders of the instruments of pain, principally made of either slim bamboo or thick leather. Alice, the central character finds herself in quests for domination, principally by her uncle/guardian.
This second instalment continues the storyline that ends the preceding part, in which she is taking refuge (from her guardian) with the parents of the female friend who has introduced her to the potential delights of pain applied to the nether quarters. The parents (and their domestic staff) prove to be as enthusiastic wielders of suitable instruments as were the teaching staff we encountered in the first novel. Alice’s stay with them is intended to be preliminary to her moving (with her friend) to another school, but the pair of them find many stimulating diversions even without this transition, which of course carries the promise of more traditional disciplinary scenarios.
The pseudonymous author ‘Surreal’ has a keen eye for maintaining tension in this genre, and the feelings experienced by our heroine are credible both in their anticipation and in the experience of her ordeals. The author also manages to avoid (mostly) the most intense cp experiences which can easily spoil the atmosphere for many devotees of the genre. This novel is well up to the standard of its forerunner, and will be appreciated by a large proportion of these devotees.
