Unafraid is a well-researched and super helpful workbook on fear. The book covers a number of different things we fear and bases examples in the Bible while also drawing on phycology and secular resources to understand ourselves better. The Fear of Failure chapter was especially relevant. The use of modern-day examples and two from the Old Testament provides an easy way to identify with the fear. The questions at the end of the chpater are particularly insightful to help overcome and step into the work that God has called us to do. Excellent resource.… (más)

I enjoyed this workbook as I worked through it. There was a lot of good information and I plan on keeping it for the future. If you are someone who deals with anxiety or fear, you may find this workbook to be beneficial to you too. For me, I enjoyed getting an electronic copy, because I could print out the pages that I needed and could even print out extra pages if necessary.

As Christians, one of the most debilitating things that all of us can suffer from is FEAR. If we allow FEAR to overpower us, it is capable of robbing us of our joy and serenity. Luckily, as Christians, we are reminded of the protection that stems from the Lord’s love for His children and the promises He has made to us, all of which get found in the reading of Scripture.

One of the most comforting Scriptures I believe is that of PSALM 23, which we all should know by heart.

In trying to be a good Christian woman, I have found that regardless of the myriad of things that we might be confronted by, the Bible is ready to give us some sound advice or insight for the situation we might be in. When it comes to us possessing fear, it could be regarding what tomorrow will bring us. Luckily, however, MATTHEW 6:34 [NLT], advises us with the following:

“So don’t worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will bring its own worries. Today’s trouble is enough for today.”

A strong reassurance for our fears can be found in ISAIAH 41:10 [NLT]:

“Don’t be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my victorious right hand.”

The Lord knows that the screwball and tumultuous world we live in makes our fears surge in intensity. We require His intervention by comforting our emotions and contemplations. The Lord needs to open our hearts to possess His comforting presence, His wisdom, and His peace. We need the Lord to eliminate the plaguing sensations of fear and anxieties that we possess so that we are no longer living in them.

Ironically, for those interested, the words “fear not” appear in the Bible 365 times, enough to give a comforting Scriptural verse to those suffering from it for each day of the year.

What we need to assist us in conquering the fears that we possess as Christians in not only a faith-driven guidebook fraught with the words of the Lord, we need something will would also incorporate proven secular things like cognitive behavioral techniques, such as exposure therapy. As a faith-driven 71-year-old nondenominational Christian woman, I believe I’ve found it in this guidebook/workbook produced by its publisher, Tribune Publications. Since this workbook incorporates therapy that is outside of mainstream medicine, its wholistic addition to the obligatory Scripture for Christian book of this kind, only adds to the intention of the book as a whole, which is why this publisher’s endeavor has received the 5 STARS I’ve given it.

I received MOBI.file copy of this book from the publisher through a giveaway they had a LibraryThing, and the above has been my honest opinion.

In my journey of trying to be a good Christian woman, I've acquired a bit of knowledge, one of which is that: At one time or another, all of us have gone through suffering from some anxiety. Whether it be from a loss of income, taking a big test, going for a promotion, etc., we've suffered from it.

As usual, those of us who are believers in the Lord have, and knowing He's also called the Great Physician, His answer to any situation we might have His book close at hand, in the Bible. In perusing it, we find the most significant information regarding worrying about our lives as Christians in MATTHEW 6:25-34 [NKJV]:

[25] Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? [26] Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing?
[27] Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? [28] "So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; [29] and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. [30] Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? [31] Therefore do not worry, saying, 'What shall we eat?' or 'What shall we drink?' or 'What shall we wear?' [32] For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. [33] But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. [34] Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

I've found this devotional book somewhat of a God-sent for anyone suffering from anxiety to begin a Scriptual directed journey to find the relief that they're desperately searching for. The book accomplishes this through the various Scripture offered each day, along with a running commentary. Each day culminates with a specifically written supplication to the Lord for that day's devotion.

Being the rather voracious reviewer of non-fiction Christian books that I am, I'm glad to be giving this book's publisher 5 STARS for their endeavor here.
