Interesting, a much better read than Haven, which I had read previously. It had its flaws, but the action and suspense was good enough to cover for them and make me want to continue with the series.

This book held my interest. The concept of people wanting to leave their careers as assassins yet are still drawn into it again. The issues of religion was very well done showing that there are good and bad in every religion. Elizabeth and Martin were personable so that I wanted to keep rooting for them to succeed. Even the young girl Aisha was a strong enough character. The ending was not what I expected because it really does not leave you thinking there will be a sequel yet I was sure throughout the story that there would be one.

Synopsis: Adam Whistler is, in loose terms, a problem-solver. This profession has landed him in various difficulties, including requiring him to obtain items to ensure his continued health. In the process he meets and is smitten by Claudia, who believes she is Adam's guardian angel.
Review: The first few chapters were a misery, however as the story continued, the writing improved. Overall, this was an enjoyable book.½

Maxim is a new author for me, and I was pleasantly surprised with this first read. His secondary characters, especially the villains, were much better than his protagonist. I found a fair amount of humor throughout the book, primarily in the characters' dialog. The details about the counterfeit prescription drug business were very interesting.½

I'm surprised more people don't own this book. It was recommended to me by a lovely man from California who came down to Mississippi for a visit, and he went so far as to buy it for me. In awe of his bookish chivalry, I went home and promptly ate this book in one sitting.

It's a pulpy thriller, sure, but I had so much fun in the journey that I've reread it several times just to experience the fun again.

Give it a try.

I have read this book several times. I only save a few of my fiction books but this is one of my keeps. Currently on sale at Amazon for 11 cents as it is out of print so only used copies available on Amazon.

Every clichee of every thriller--well written, but pretty bad content and story line

Paul Bannerman is the de facto leader of this group of people, and he ensures that they stay one step ahead of their nemesis, the seriously paranoid Palmer Reid.

In this book, Paul falls in love with reporter Susan Lesko, the daughter of a former NYPD policeman, Raymond Lesko. Palmer Reid's suspicious and paranoid mind makes connections between Raymond, Paul, Susan, and a former Cocaine Queen that do not exist, and he begins to hatch a plan to hasten their demise.½
