I am a fan of this series and so was happy to see RB finally continuing it. Parts were real good but I was ultimately disappointed in the heroine who started out okay and kind of fun but who turned into a totally unlikeable bitch at the end. Eric was a great hero and really deserved better than her. Still I will continue with the next book when it comes out and hope the heroine is more sympathetic. The plot and werewolf world was great. I like my werewolves darker and not as comical as some authors write them which makes this a great series since the world building is darker in this series. It really was the heroine that dropped this down to 3 stars.

Nicely done. I enjoyed this one as much as the first one. This is romantic suspense lite I guess. There was a bad guy and the heroine was threatened but the gist of the story was these two finally hooking up. They have known each other for years although they haven't really liked each other. Of course it is that playground kind of not liking each other where the sniping is a cover up for attraction. So the major portion of the story is the hot sex they have. I'm not really a person who reads just for the sex since I like plot more but there was enough plot here to hang the story on and the sex seemed integral to the story rather than an inane interruption of the action.

So as I said a lot of times I'm just hurrying to get past the tab A slot B stuff but I can get behind some sexing it up if it's done well and here it really worked for me. It was probably a little over the top but boy was it hot. I was trying to figure out how to get my hubby to read it just for a couple of hints you know ;-)

Sign me up for the next one.

5 erotic stars. We're not talking classic literature here but as an erotic romance it was pretty darn perfect for my tastes. First off these two knew each other so no issues with super fast development of feelings and trust. We don't know a whole lot of backstory for the characters, particularly the heroine. The hero we know a bit more about. Speaking of the hero, he was HOT. I might laugh if my husband talked dirty to me like Ben did to Reese but I love it in erotic romances. Ben is the master of dirty talk.

This book talks straight to a woman's fantasies. This is a man who is obsessed with his woman's lady bits. I mean obsessed. And he doesn't seem to care if he ever gets a bj. Plus he was ripped and huge everywhere.

The suspense element was there but really only to drive the plot a bit. This was definitely an erotic romance first and foremost. The suspense did make sense thought and all connected pretty well. Ben was a sheriff but there was very little of him doing his job. This book took place mostly after hours.

So a quick easy read. Well written and super hot.

This story had lots of promise, but it seemed that it was only an excuse to put sex into the mix. Just as the story would start to take off, it would be interrupted by a lengthy sex scene. I normally like to have a healthy amount of sex scenes in the stories I read, but in this book, they just became annoying.

Oh hey author, can I have a bit of story with my sex .......... please? ...........I read a lot of naughty but damn was this ever painful, started off like okay maybe it'll be sweet........ARGH. Read it because it was suggested in an RL Mathewson comment. Wish I hadn't bothered, luckily I got it from the library and can return it without feeling horrible because I paid money for it.

The romance story lines are pretty much all the same at this point. I notice her even using some of the exact phrasing from previous books. They're still great to escape into and the overarching plot will keep you hooked. I want to know how it ends!

I don’t know where to begin about how disappointed I was in this follow-up to Las Wolf Standing. I wanted to sink back into the world of the blood runners but I found myself reading a cheesy, fairly lame romance with a little action thrown in. This book is more romance heavy than the last book and it suffers for it.

There are two glaring items in this book the reader should be prepared for: 1) The heroine is awful and 2) Not enough of the other blood runners. I will try to talk about each without hopefully giving too much away. I’m going to start with the second one since it basically sums it up. The first book introduced to this community of blood runners and you got a real connection to the group. That is gone in this book. Jeremy seems exceptionally isolated from the blood runners and the lack of fun and family is a downer for me in this one.

Now the heroine. Good Lord save us from stupid heroines. I couldn’t for the life of me figure out what Jeremy saw in this idiot. Jillian is portrayed in the first book at the pack’s intelligent, mature spirit walker (aka witch). She is not that. Her character lacks maturity, courage and on a basic level some serious knowledge of the pack she is bound to. Her mother and sister put her to shame and you wonder why the pack or Jeremy choose Jillian.

The narration was from fine and I hope the third book in the series makes up some territory.

I spent a lot of time listening to this book and this it was a little “cheesy” but I was having a very stressful time at work so it was actually just what I needed to relax on my commute home. That in itself probably saved it a star along with the fact that the supporting characters seem to be more intriguing than the two main ones.

The universe and setting the author created were very good and I like the mythology around the wolves and how the hierarchy of the pack works. The other bloodrunners were immediately likeable and is the only that kept me going during some points in the book. The two main characters were just okay and I’m good with that but I didn’t really feel like I was invested in their relationship.

My biggest issue was the conflict and bad guy. I thought he was a little lame and was really getting worn out waiting for it to all be over. I just didn’t see why Mason didn’t end it sooner. I also had an issue with the blood bond – it gave the story a twinge of ickiness. The two characters are chosen life mates and the whole love thing seems to be just a side note so it was hard to decide if Torrance and Mason were actually in love or just bonded.

I will be continuing the series as I am interested in seeing how the other bloodrunner’s stories go. The author did create a unique, diverse of characters among the bloodrunners.

Edge of Hunger
5 Stars

Synopsis: Constantly on edge with the darkness that lives within him, Ian Buchanan only wants to lead a normal life, but then Molly Stratton arrives on his doorstep with a message from Ian's deceased mother and nothing will ever be normal again. Now, Ian and Molly find themselves sharing the same intense and sensual nightmares, and soon discover that they are the prey to an unspeakably evil creature bent on their destruction.

Review:
Intense and exciting from the first pages. The plot is intriguing and the characters compelling.

The world building is comprehensive and absorbing with a unique mythology involving original creatures uncommon in existing paranormal romance. The precise details regarding Ian’s true nature and that of the creature stalking him are revealed as the story progresses and there are enticing hints of an all-encompassing battle to come between the forces of good and evil.

The writing is descriptive and well-paced. However, there is some repetitious word usage, such as variations of “rasp” and “rasping” but this does not distract from the storytelling.

Ian is a perfectly flawed and tortured hero who has a difficult time coming to terms with his identity and abilities. Some readers may find him terse and uncaring, however, in my opinion, this only adds to his appeal and to the strength of his feelings for the heroine. Molly is strong and determined, and never allows Ian’s surliness to deter her in any way. Their chemistry is sizzling in its intensity, and their banter is one of the highlights of the book.

The secondary characters, most of whom form a secret society known as “The Watchmen”, are also appealing and will appear in the own books down the line. The villain is suitably despicable and the scenes told from his perspective serve well to ratchet up the tension and suspense. The final encounter between the hero and villain is one of the most exciting that I’ve read recently.

Overall, this is a thoroughly entertaining read that I found hard to put down and I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

Edge of Hunger
2 Stars

Synopsis
Saige Buchanan has always accepted that she is different and that once awakened her family bloodline will endow her with the ability to shift into a mythological creature. Now that the time is upon her, Saige will have to place her trust in an enigmatic stranger if she is to survive the evil forces who seek her destruction.

Review

A pale imitation of the first book.

There is very little character development and it is difficult to care about the main couple. Saige is annoying and her actions clearly make her TSTL. Quinn is overbearring and secretive. It is completely unclear what these two see in each other beyond the animal attraction.

The mythology underlying the story is not sufficiently development. The exact nature of the Merrick and Casus has yet to be explained in full and suddenly there is a new force in play (Collective Army) that is barely introduced.

Overall, a disappointing sequel to a promising debut. I may continue with the series but it is on the back burner for now.

Once the heroine could count her teacher and mentor as a friend but his past relationship with his father and his fear over loss of control made him break her heart. He went to another woman. Devastated, the heroine found comfort in the arms of another man and whatever friendship they had dissolved into fights and bitter arguments. Now, the heroine must finds the hero's missing brother before it's too late and as a curtesy, she asked for the hero's help. Though she still feels an insistent and powerful pull towards the Lycan male, the way he treats her and all those harsh and cruel comments make her reluctant to trust him. The hero in turn is powerfully against the heroine coming with him into the wasteland for a multitude of reasons. Firstly, she isn't a shifter, though she has the blood she can't shift and in turn is a weaker fighter against the enemy they face. Secondly, he is still bitter and jealous over her relationship with the other vampire male, the one he's convinced she loves still. And lastly, the most pressuring objection of all is his passionate urge to protect her and possess her. But that's something he can never do and so in his attempts to distance himself from her and his own feelings, he picks fights with her and criticizes her. But it soon becomes very apparent that he can no longer suppress his physical desire for her and in a move that shows his true selfishness, he proposes sex with no strings attached. He convinces himself that if he screws her out of his system, the feelings will go away. Not knowing just how deeply the heroine love him before he broke her heart and ignorant to her true feelings presently, he begins to toy with her emotions. She knows very well that she can't just have emotionless sex, especially not with this man yet she can't stop herself from wanting him. With her ex lover and still best friend as their guild through the wasteland, the hero battles his own cowardice as well as his overwhelming jealousy to a man who never held her heart. I liked this book but I didn't love it. I thought the hero was a coward and a little bit of a shit for the way he treats the heroine both before and currently. He really only thought about himself. His father and the way the man tortured him and his mother made the hero crave control. So, he thinks he knows best about everyone around him. He pushed the heroine in the vampires arms yet calls her a whore and shames her for it. He acts possessive and jealous but isn't willing to fight for her, rather he allows her to dangle on a string. In turn I thought the heroine to be a little bit spineless. She's supposed to be a warrior yet every battle she either has a panic attack or hangs back and lets the hero to the fighting. Also, she allows the hero to walk all over her. She's ruled by her desire for him and as such she permits him to purpose the sex arrangement and lies to herself about the fact that she's happy to have him the only way she can. I thought that have a strain relationship at best and a destructive one at worse. That paired with the low moving story about nothing at all really and it made for an alright book but nothing to phone home about.

The hero saved the heroine from imprisonment but couldn't protect her from the rape or the abuse that she received. The heroine thinks of herself as broken and though the hero tries to get closer to her she keeps pushing him away. Honestly, I wouldn't trust him either to start with. An ex-vampire slayer would make a vampire a little jumpy. But out of fear of how he makes her feel, she keeps thinking of every excuse she can to show him they are meant to be and it got a little old. They kept having the same conversations over and over again, so much so that the book could have been cut down to skip them. The hero was frustrating. I don't like it when a strong male becomes a weak lost puppy over his female. It's different when he's willing to swallow his pride to make her happy but he got a little whiny when she kept turning him down and it was turn off for me. The heroine is supposed to be gun ho on revenge and killing those who killed her sister but she's weak. She constantly needs the hero to save her every fight though she's stubborn and doesn't see it and despite the hero's obvious fear for her safety she repeatedly runs off to get the bad guy on her own. That being said, when the hero wasn't being whiny he was a alpha male and dedicated to protecting the heroine. He tries really hard to get over his aversion to letting her feed from him and anyone who hurts or threatens her is immediately killed or put into their place.

3- I nice quick PNR wolfie read. Big alpha males, pack politics and some really stupid human women. I liked the pack and the actions of the Dark Wolf. He took responsibility for his power and used it wisely. Then their was the female main character. She was so over the top stupid, stubborn, judgmental, just rubber me wrong all the way through the book. Here was this GREAT guy willing to make things ok and she was hateful and mean. No, she was not my favorite character. It could have been better of she had a real reason for being a total witch. I thought her reasoning was so flimsy.
This woman travels up to this remote mountain looking for her wild missing sister. (Who may not want to be found.) She is determined to take her back home no matter what. (what ?/ she's an adult) She is trespassing on Wolfie land they ask her to leave she say's no. She acts like a toddler, throws a hissy fit the wolf tries to help her and get her to safety. Finally she agrees to leave, her car breaks down and wolfie boy helps her ungrateful self back into town, where he pays for a hotel and pays to fix her car. This helping of her goes on and on while her jerkness to him goes on and on. Till there is a huge awakening in her little pee head.....

Sayre has spent months watching as her life mate, Cain, takes one woman after another to bed and ignoring their connection. In a last ditch effort, she gives Cain an ultimatum. One she never expected him to just walk away from. Now five years later, Cain is back because Sayre is in danger.

This was painful to slug through. Cain annoyed me to death. He refused to tell Sayre anything and went out of his way to keep her in the dark. She's supposedly this extremely powerful witch, but everyone treats her like spun glass. Additionally, I hate the entitlement mentality that is a re-occuring theme with a lot of "fate mate" stories. Cain has been gone for years but expects Sayre to be waiting for him when he breezes back into town. He also throws a hissy-fit when Sayre implies that she's slept with other men, despite him having openly had sex with other women for months in front of Sayre before he left. All in all, I couldn't get into the story or characters here. I don't think I'll be picking-up another book in the Bloodrunner series.
