( ) This book was not like the normal everyday book that you would read to children. It is in the form of a rap and it is about a dog who is basically alone and thrown out into the city streets to fend for himself. I did not care for this book at all and how it was laid out. The idea of the book being a rap is kind of cool but the way Raschka did so was not very good in my opinion. I did not like how the beginning the dog was scared and alone and then all of a sudden he was okay with it and it did not bother him anymore. I would not read this book to my future students. I feel like this is not the type of book to be read to children because I would not want children to try to relate themselves to how the dog feels in the book. This story is meant to be read like a rap, which is a cool idea, but I don't think Raschka did a very good job doing so. It helps that words meant to be emphasized are in bold and larger font, but I struggled a lot with the tempo of the poetry, and couldn't read it comfortably because of that. The story itself is also confusing; it seems that Daschle spent more time finding words to rhyme than actually trying to develop a story. After reading over it a couple more times I don't understand how the protagonist suddenly is happy and confident, I don't see any growth or events that pushed the story forward. The layout is cool and different, having the text wrap around the pictures during what I suppose is the chorus. I didn't enjoy this book, to be honest, and I wouldn't bother reading it to my children. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
