One doesn't need to be a fan of gangster movies for this to be hilarious. I love the interplay between Marvin and Raymond, but Fats is too cardboard. The cat is great, though his role is actually quite small so a reader has to use his imagination to fill in the rest of the story. I love the illustrations - they effectively clarify the action & characters, and are also fun. My edition was for classrooms; it has a glossary, discussion questions, and other supplements. All it lacks is a bit more 'heart' for me to round up to 4 stars. ( )

Definitely for children. But it was amusing, and well read/acted. Good addition to a collection by this company. I can't say I found it 'funny', more than mildly amusing. It wasn't as painful to listen to as an adult as some of the newer stuff is. ( )
