I loved Hush, Hush. I was excited to be able to read more Nora and Patch. And then I read the book description for Crescendo and felt disappointed before even reading a word. I was worried there'd be a mostly pointless love triangle (or possibly more introduced and I'd spend the majority of the novel annoyed and wishing I could fast forward to the end.

Instead what I got was a slow build up (I see what you did there with the Crescendo, Ms. Fitzpatrick) of emotions and history until it all comes crashing down.

Nora learns a little bit more about who she is and what she is made of in this book. She's not sure who she's able to trust, even Patch. Because of this, she has to rely more on herself for the answers she needs. She trusts her instincts more and lets the blood that runs through her help guide her. Of course, this means sometimes she makes decisions that made me shake my head at her, all the while loving that she's starting to stand on her own more.

The relationship between Nora and Patch hits turbulence in this one and even though it gets rough, it's very easy to see that everything ripping them apart in Crescendo is also driving them closer together. They can't be torn apart, even when forces outside their control are trying their hardest. Even when it is them doing the ripping, they still find a way to be together.

The twists and turns in Crescendo had be guessing at every page. Just when I thought I'd have something figured out, the road would turn and I'd be just as clueless as I started. It kept me focused and on my toes.

Crescendo is a fabulous sequel to a great book, and certainly didn't let me down like I thought it might. The story fits its name and I can't wait to read what happens next. ( )

★★★★☆

first of all: WHY DID YOU END IT LIKE THAT? THAT CLIFFHANGER? i need to read crooked kingdom before i start the third book but now i’m too invested in this series to wait.

there were so many plot twists and i was confused but the author does a really good job at making things clear. when being introduced to a new idea, she explains it very well.

this book is pretty fast-paced, but that might just be because it’s an ebook and i tend to read ebooks quickly.

as much as i wanted patch and nora to be together in this book, i was very satisfied by their last moment because you can see that patch truly does care about nora, even if it wasn’t supposed to happen.

also, fuck you rixon you dirty goat cheese flubnubber trash can stinker smelly bean burrito big boy hooligan fat bat penis fat headass. ugly. dumb. stupid. ( )

The second book's draft was so bad that the author had to scrap it, and start over entirely. If that doesn't tell you what you're in for I don't know what will.

Nora and Patch have been dating for two months.

She's saying I love you, and doing all these nice things for him, but he's doing none of it back. I want you to keep that in mind, the guy who has been tormenting her for an entire book, stalking her, all this awful stuff. He now has her and he's aloof and unreceptive.

On top of all that, Nora is willing to give up all of her hopes and dreams and the belief that she can live happily ever after with Patch.

*Puts in multiple red flags*

Lotta off page action in this series because I don't know what is going on in some scenes. Patch reveals if you ever truly falls in love he'll go straight to hell so he breaks up with her and gets with the prettiest snootiest cheerleader. All right.

Nora keeps being explained to that she can't possibly have a relationship with him without him basically being erased from the earth, yet she keeps relapsing into asking why can't they be in a relationship. I don't know if this girl is supposed to be rich in the stupid or what, but this is bad.

Also at this point I think Patch is actually Nora's grandfather or great grandfather, angel genetics and family trees are wildly confusing in this book series.

This book series is trash and I don't think we need to debate that.

"My piggy bank is anorexic."

0.5 stars.

The bar is in hell. ( )

Hmm... A 3 star or a 2 star hmmm.... three (it was okay readable)

After reading Hush Hush and being pleasantly surprised at how absorbed I was in it, I was looking forward to Crescendo.
With Hush Hush I had no expectation, with Crescendo I was expecting something good and original, what I felt like I was reading was a boring take on Miss Bella Swan's New Moon by Stephanie Mayer. Lets see, where to begin with that awful conclusion, because if I were Fitzpatrick I would feel insulted by it.

Patch our fallen angel/guardian angel turns into a sleeze ball, he ditches Nora to hang with her worst nightmare. Enter Marcie.

Nora in response early on in the book points out Patch is her guardian angel and he will have to save her if she becomes reckless. (This is where i rubbed my hands together in excitement)

Nora meets an old friend but compared to Patch he is nothing and something feels bad about him. Yet she makes a note that she could make Patch become jealous of her moving on to see how he likes it. (Again im anticipating spiteful childish attitude...aka fun and games!)
Instead we get one scene where she starts to undress the guy and Patch steps in... the end.

Well not to worry the reckless part is coming up right? No. Nothing. At least in New Moon Bella threw herself of a cliff and actually did stuff other than moping about and feeling sorry for herself. By the way I am no fan of the Twilight Series, just throwing that out there.

I hated that Nora was so insistent that she hated Patch and wanted nothing to do with him yet every time he approached her, it was all dropped as though they were just casually having a conversation.
As usual with these teen fantasy books there are no repercussions for the guy, no earning back trust or having to fight his way back. All these girls are weak characters and bad main characters, I'm pretty sure Vee or Marcie would have been a better choice.

Nora Grey is a boring character, this book proves it. She is insecure (okay to an extent its easy to understand why) but she is also depressing.

This book had so much potential and the author passed by it to tell the readers of Nora's broken teenage heart. Nobody cares about the heartbreak, people want revenge, hate, passion.

Since I've began this series I will be finishing it.
-sigh-
Throw me the next one!

The good news: I convinced Lynn not to send Scott over this morning to pick you up. The bad news: Lynn is set on the tour of town. At this point I'm not sure saying no is going to work. Would you mind taking him around after class? Keep it short. Really short. I left his number on the kitchen counter.
