Brandeis A Life, by Melvin I. Urofsky (read 12 Nov 2009) This is a magisterial work, telling well the life of the great Supreme Court Justice. The chapters on some of Brandies' interests as a lawyer were of little interest--savings banks, utilities and railroad fights--but after the account got to the time (Jan 1916) when he was nominated to the Supreme Court the book was of unfailing interest. I have read two other biographies of Btandeis (Mason's and Paper's) and while they were good this one is certainly more authoritative. His life is inspiring and the country was certainly fortunate to have him on the Court.
Melvin I. Urofsky’s long, stately and satisfying biography, “Louis D. Brandeis: A Life,” gives a full account of every aspect of Brandeis’s incredibly varied career. PremiosDistinciones
The first full-scale biography in 25 years of one of the most important and distinguished justices to sit on the Supreme Court--a book that reveals not only Louis D. Brandeis the reformer, lawyer, and jurist, but also Brandeis the man, in all of his complexity, passion, and wit.--Book jacket. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
