Describes many qualities of eggs such as color, shape, size, and texture, with beautiful illustrations of eggs of all shapes, sizes, and colors. The basic text of the book is simply, with one line per page spread, but there's additional information throughout. Can be read to suit small children or interested older children. Dianna Hunts Aston uses repetitive pattern to create poetic descriptions of a wide assortment of eggs. Insects, birds, amphibians, fish, reptiles, and even fossilized dinosaur eggs are represented with labels and scientific explanations. The intricate illustrations by Sylvia Long are flawless and precise depicting actual sizes unless stated otherwise with some comparisons for authenticity. Ashton chronicles egg colors, shapes, patterns and textures as well as what an egg offers to its inhabitant as it develops. Long and Ashton conclude with an incredible double page spectacle of creatures followed by a double page of eggs to match. This book talks about eggs. It talks about their differences, their similarities, where they come from, and what they are going to grow into. I think one of the reasons I like this book so much is because it is so simple and to the point. Immediately when I was reading it I knew what unit it would go in and how I could use it. If I get the chance to hatch eggs at school I think this could be a great book to read in order to get the class ready for hatching their own egg. Maybe we could even use clues to figure out what kind of eggs we are hatching. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
