Apian (Greek: Αππιανός, Alexandria, ca. 95 - ca. 165), was a historian of Ancient Rome (of Greek ethnicity). He held various administrative positions in Alexandria, and then went to Rome ca. 120, where he worked as a lawyer. In AD 147 he obtained the office of prosecutor (probably ninth Roman province of Egypt), of the emperor Antonino Pio, by which he had access to the imperial documentation. Its main work was the "Roman History" (Ῥωμαϊκά), written in Greek; Is a long history of Ancient Rome in 24 books, ranging from its founding until 35 BC is more a series of monographs than a linked story. Of the twenty-four books are conserved only ten, of the VI to the VIII and of the XI to the XVII integers, as well as sections of others. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
