OTT is akin to John Sailhamer's Introduction to OT Theology, yet exhibits a more complete development of a canonical approach that recognizes both the descriptive and prescriptive role of the discipline. Routledge's thematic approach with God at the center is reminiscent of recent works by Paul House, Eugene Merrill, and Bruce Waltke. What sets OTT apart, however, is its less intimidating, more manageable style and organization. The evangelical tone of the work distinguishes it from the volumes of Walter Brueggemann and H. D. Preuss. Routledge is well suited for an upper-level college or entry-level seminary course in OT theology, particularly one determined to bake the biblical text seriously.
Routledge provides a substantial overview of the central issues and themes in Old Testament theology. In a style that is clear, concise and nuanced, Routledge examines the theological significance of the various texts within their wider canonical context, noting unity and coherence while showing awareness of diversity. --from publisher description No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
