Robert Dick Wilson (4 February 1856 - 11 October 1930) was one of the most educated and accomplished scholars of his time, in the study of the Old Testament, and wrote several books. He opposed the "Higher Criticism" of the Old Testament. He could read the New Testament in nine languages, and graduated from Princeton at age 20. He eventually knew 45 languages and dialects. This book was originally published in two parts; one was a discussion of lower criticism titled: The Lower Criticism of the Old Testament as a Preparation for the Higher Criticism. It is actually an address by the author upon his receiving the post of Professor of Semitic Philology and Biblical Criticism at Princeton, in May of 1900. It also includes a charge, or commission, to Rev. Wilson by Rev. Marcus A. Brownson, D.D.The second part is a short book called, Is the Higher Criticism Scholarly? He explains the claims made by others, and proves them false, of there being major problems with the Old Testament.Footnotes appear after each paragraph, since there are no pages in eBooks. The chapter divisions were added to aid in navigation in eBook format. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
