2012 Reread: I got lost in this for a month. My very first full reread since the series hit its ending. Since I knew where it would start and go and end up. It was just as terrible, wonderful, painful, heartbreaking, heart healing, amazing as every other read. I never stop knowing my heart belongs to this.

2014: Graphic Novel Book Club, Read #3 (Duo Set -- Book One)

This one was my rec to the group. I will never stop loving everything about SIP as long as I can read words and remember it's story. I was really glad to get to introduce it to brand new people, and to spend an afternoon/evening tearing it apart with them. It was such a blast. ( )

Questo volume conclude il secondo arco narrativo e si concentra quasi esclusivamente sui rapporti tra i protagonisti: si tirano le somme dopo tutte le avventure e gli eccessi dei numeri scorsi. La svolta intimista per me permette a Moore di sviluppare pienamente le proprie potenzialità di narratore: riesce a mischiare sapientemente momenti brillanti ed altri poetici, pur non rinunciando mai a certi tocchi di colore che sono il tratto distintivo dell'opera.
La qualità è andata in crescendo, dopo un inizio un po' spiazzante il fumetto ha trovato man mano una sua identità: i caratteri si sono definiti e la storia ha acquistato spessore. Mi sono rimaste alcune perplessità, sui disegni in primis, ma è innegabile che sia un'opera originalissima e dal taglio più cinematografico che fumettistico. ( )

Strangers in Paradise is the magnum opus if frustrated comic strip artist Terry Moore. I say frustrated because he’s spent many years trying to break into the Sunday comics pages only to realize that he has a much longer and more involved story to tell. SIP is the story of Katchoo, Francine, and David, three completely different individuals who all love each other and who are all not sure just how to work that out. Between jobs, relationships and even the mob, the three come to depend on each other and in the end can’t help but hurt each other at the same time. ( )
