NCLA Review - The text of this pleasant, soothing bedtime book is the prayer that a little girl prays before she goes to sleep. She begins by saying goodnight to the things in her world—sun, birds, trees, flowers, puppy, kittens, Mommy, Daddy. Each two-page spread features a four-line verse and a colorful, soft-edged pastel illustration. The rhyme doesn’t always flow perfectly, but the overall effect will be soothing and comforting to little ones. While the sturdy board book format makes this book accessible to even the youngest listeners, after testing the book out on a one-year-old and a three-year-old, I suggest that children in the 2-6 age range would be most interested in this book. With so many good board books and read-alouds available, this one is perfectly fine, but does not stand out in any way. It does, however, provide young children with an easy introduction to praying at bedtime. Rating: 2 —AMG ( )
