A beach is Nature´s conversation with itself, a peaceful yet invigorating place; an imminently human space that allows us to be "in between". While mountains, forest and deserts possess a grandeur wich is both imposing an overpowering, a beach is a domesticated setting. That is why beach homes present such a special set of challenges for architects, demanding that particular combination of environmental sensitivity and spatial awareness. Architects must understand their "genius loci" and come up with deserving solutions. The homes in this book have done just that. They are worthy of the third day of creation.
