The lofts scrutinised in this book provide a good example of just how far the renovation and design of these far-from-typical dwellings has progressed. A compilation of the best lofts found in four trend-setting cities should not, however, be understood as a mere catalogue. Quite to the contrary, it presents us with a unique opportunity to enjoy and contemplate other ways of living. Despite evident and needed differences, these lofts share common obsessions with space, natural light and the placement of quality over quantity.
