This book would be great in the classroom because it teaches the children about unconditional love. It can also help with students that aren't from here and are ELL students it can help them feel more welcome. ( )

This book would be great for all ages but I would recommend to sticking with the younger ages up to 1st grade. This book really shows a child how much the parent loves them no matter what, that love is unconditional. You can use this book as a word wall extension/practice, help make ELLs feel welcomed by simply having this book in your classroom shows you care about their native language, kindergarteners could draw their family after being read this story. Summary:
This book portrays the love between a parent and a child. It shows the child how much the parent loves them no matter what.
Personal reaction:
It was a cute book. It had great pictures and would be great for a kindergarden class.
Classroom Extensions:
#1: I would try to get the children's parents to come to class and read the book to their child.
#2: I would have the kids draw a picture of their family and have them give it to their parents. ( )

How Do I Love You by P.K. Hallinan is a “love poem from parent to child”. The text is simple but sweet and the illustrations extend the plot and develop the character all on their own. This book is a cute read for all ages, though it would be best for very young children. With young children as the target audience the book would be much better printed in a hardcover or even a board book format. How Do I Love You is an excellent story for parents to read to their children. ( )
