I've read this short story several times over the years. It was one of those stories we HAD to read in high school, and then I read because I wanted to years later. The first time I read it, I thought it was one of the most tragic and heartbreaking stories I'd ever read... Especially because I was one of those "outsiders" in school, I totally felt for the protagonist.

I recommend this story to anyone. A social commentary, it is. (sorry, I'll put the Yoda ears away now.) ( )

Το 'All Summer in a Day' ήταν ένα πολύ βαθιά ανθρώπινο διήγημα. Πολύ μικρό και σχεδόν μινιμαλιστικό, κατορθώνει μέσα από λίγες λέξεις να περάσει στον αναγνώστη σύντομες εικόνες, τόσο δυνατές που αναπόλησα τον ήλιο και με διαπέρασε μία αίσθηση κλειστοφοβίας σαν να ήμουν εγώ που περίμενα να φανεί ο ήλιος για τόσο πολύ καιρό. Αν τελικά η ιστορία είναι αισιόδοξη ή απαισιόδοξη δεν είμαι βέβαιος. Η άποψη μου είναι ότι η ιστορία δεν στέκεται καθόλου σε αυτό το χαρακτηριστικό και χρησιμοποιεί το ιδιότυπο αυτό δίπολο για να τονίσει την αίσθηση της απομόνωσης του κοριτσιού από τους συμμαθητές της. Ένα στοιχειωτικό διήγημα. (O δεύτερος ή ο τρίτος είμαι που χρησιμοποιεί αυτόν τον όρο για να το περιγράψει;)
