I would really recommend this book for young children who are just being introduced to subtraction, especially those who love dinosaurs! The book begins with 10 terrible dinosaurs and ends with one sleeping one. The dinosaurs each begin to disappear, whether it was because they were too spiked, playing goofy tricks, went too far, or danced a crazy jive. One by one, they all leave until the last one remains. Another aspect of the book I enjoyed was the large print and the colorful pages. I think that is important for young children to keep their attention. Also, Paul Stickland does a great job in using different adjective to describe each group of dinosaurs. This is something I really enjoy seeing in a book. I would love to read this book to my classroom and have them predict how much dinosaurs would be left after each one leaves. Ten Terrible Dinosaurs is a fun book children will love practicing subtraction with. This book counts down from ten dinosaurs to one lonely dinosaur who falls asleep and awakes from a loud rawr from the other nine dinosaurs. Each page shows the dinosaurs doing something fun, but a dinosaur leaves on each page, having the children learn subtraction. The story is about dinosaurs having fun with their friends and I think young children will love the humorous actions from the dinosaurs. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Strickland uses the tried and true method of rhyming verse in this educational and fun counting book. Starting at ten with a large number 10 in digits at the start of the text, the ten terrible dinosaurs are standing in a line.
The watercolour illustrations are bright and whimsical, but as we know dinosaurs can be cheeky and they soon begin to mess around. It gets a bit rough and one poor dinosaur is scared so leaves. When the page is turned the number 9 is shown in digits first and then the text.
This book was another hit here. I really don’t think the children will ever tire of playing with, looking at and reading about dinosaurs.
I liked that the numbers were in digits and text side by side which gives a visual connection of the two.
Strickland’s use of alliteration and rhyming adds an extra element of fun to the reading and listening.
We had seven silly dinosaurs, five feisty dinosaurs and two tetchy dinosaurs. The book ends with a sneaky loud ROAR! Those dinosaurs really are tricky.
Ten Terrible Dinosaurs is a book that has been loved for the past two decades and is sure to be loved for decades to come.
