Bad Dogs Have More Fun is an unforgettable collection of more than seventy-five newspaper articles fromThe Philadelphia Inquirer written by former columnist John Grogan. Combining humor, wit, poignancy, and affection, these columns provide insight into the intriguing and wonderful world we live in. Whether it be writing about animals (from dogs to elephants to geese!), powerful and moving comments about his own and other families, trenchant comments on life’s foibles and farces, or his interviews and interactions with people who are memorable and unusual in their own right, John Grogan makes us laugh-he makes us cry-he makes us think.Visit www.baddogshavemorefun.comA percentage of the profits from the sale of this book will go to THE GOOD DOG FOUNDATION, where dogs help humans heal.To learn more, ( )

I thought it was going to be all about dogs, but hadn't looked at the summary close enough. Mostly other topics - from his prior newspaper articles. Okay but not what I expected ( )

I will always buy any book by John Grogan just because he wrote Marley and Me and it´s one of my favourite books of all times. This one is a short compilation of some of his column writings for The Philadelphia Enquirer. He talks about life, family and of course, animals. There´s a little bit of everything in here: something that will make you laugh out loud, something that will make you cry, something that will leave you with an open mouth in surprise... All in all a good, quick and easy read. ( )

The Phildelphia Inquirer compiled a collection of their most appreciated articles by John Grogan and had that published as this book. Interestingly, the copyright page of this book notes that all rights to this book go to the newspaper, not to the author. My feeling, after beginning this book, was that the newpaper was just trying to capitalize on the resounding success of the bestseller Marley and Me, the debut book by John Grogan.

I almost did not finish this book. This book’s cover, which features a dog in a bathtub and refers to Marley and Me, is misleading because most of the newpaper articles are not about animals (or even dogs) at all. I really like John Grogan’s writing and have thoroughly enjoyed his books Marley and Me and A Long Way Home. However, I don’t think that this collection works well for a book. These pieces are too small and really do belong in a newpaper instead of a book. Unlike a book of essays which discusses various topics in depth, these pieces are so small that, by the time I’d read half of the book, I’d forgotten what I’d read in the beginning of the book. I forced myself to finish it, but, by the time I did so, I’d forgotten what the first half of the book was about.

My recommendation? Stick to John Grogan’s books or read his articles in the newspaper. ( )
