After three years the trilogy is finally over! It's sad, really, but necessary. We find ourselves back at the convention in Dramacon 3. Chriss and her friends are all back, including Matt and his clan. The angsty antics are cut down in this volume, but are still present. A lot of pages are put towards characters focused on less in previous volumes, such as Chriss's artist, Bethany, who finally deals with her mother issues.

Overall, I really did enjoy this volume. It wrapped everything up in a nice neat bow and will delight even the slightest Dramacon Fan.

Susan says: Volume three of this series sort of confused me at first – Christie came to the convention with a whole herd of friends, who did not seem familiar to me. It took me awhile to get my feet back under me in this series, since I hadn’t read vol. 2 in at least a year. Finally she got back together with Matt, the guy who she has been pining for throughout both volumes, and that made a little more sense, allowing me to enjoy the series more. There is also a really strong storyline about the artist of Christie’s book, Beth, who has a mother who feels that she is throwing her life away on art, and disowns her in part of the book. I think this was a smart storyline to put in, since it’s something kids will not expect, and it will really make them think about families and how they interact. All in all, a fun read and a fun series. ( )

This final volume was, overall, a satisfying end to the story. I thought some of the storytelling choices were a bit heavy handed, but she clearly has a point she's been making over the course of of the story and that was her mechanism for presenting it in this volume. At any rate, this title is frequently recommended as the main example of what OEL can be and it clearly earns that distinction, holding up well against most, though hardly all, import shoujo. ( )

The book I wanted was a fitting conclusion to the events of books one and two. The book we get reads like a Comic Party knock-off. Wacky group of pals goes to convention, has adventures, tries to follow the creative life. Much of it is about Beth’s struggles to be honest with her mother about her desire to be an artist. Beth’s a great character (she’s the artist on Christie’s comic from book two) and it’s a conflict many readers can likely identify with, but that’s not the series I signed on for. All of that should have been a spin-off from the main story.
