Fly-Fornication, 58? Interest, incredulity and merriment would be sustained throughout. What queries from proofreaders, though, would arise from listing A. Przybysk of Michigan, or F. G. Vereneseneckockkrockoff, the defendant in a celebrated murder trial of 1897!
These are all authentic, documented names of real people, arranged alphabetically in the text by given name. Some are due to malicious, blind, or over-jocular parents: lona Victory Bond; July August September; Katz Meow; Lettice Goedebed; Mary Louise Pantzaroff; O. Hell; Ophelia Legge; Violet Organ; Virginia May Sweatt Strong. Some derive a fortuitous hilarity from the marriage or profession of the unfortunate nominee: A. Moron, Commissioner of Education; Cardinal Sin, Archbishop of Manila; Major Minor of the US Army; Mrs Screech, singing teacher; Mrs Friendly Ley. Some are simple fun, for the reader if not the owner: Gisella Werberserch-Piffel, Hrothgar J. Habakkuk (Vice-Chancellor); Humperdink Fangboner.
