In tones of hot pink, deep blue, black, and white, Jeffers ponders where to begin the human story: with fire? with hands and tools? with feet, when we emerged from the ocean? Jeffers emphasizes that no matter what we might dream up, or what harm we might do to the planet or each other, all we really want is safety and connection.
