Daphne always loved the way Peter told their story. How they met, fell in love, and moved back to his hometown to begin their life together. Too bad it turned out to be more of a prequel to Peter's actual love story with his childhood best friend, Petra. So that's how Daphne's next chapter starts - stranded in a too-small town, propositioning Petra's heartbroken ex to move in. As roommates of course. A temporary solution until she gets a new job literally anywhere else. Miles is the exact opposite to Daphne, and it's mostly just unbearably awkward until one drunken night. A tenuous friendship formed, Miles convinces her to give this idyllic town one last summer - he'll show her why he loves it and if they happen to post deliberately misleading photos of their adventures together, so be it. But as Daphne starts to fall for the town, she is faced with a question: is Miles an interlude in her great love story with Peter or was Peter was just a footnote to that time she fell in love with her ex-fiance's new fiance's ex boyfriend?… (más)

A fun quick summer romance read. It was fun but nothing earth shattering. I read it because it was on NY Times Best Seller List. ( )

Funny Story is in fact funny and perfect beach read material. If you liked Book Lovers, you will love this new romance by Emily Henry about a pair of opposites who fake a relationship only to find that they enjoy each other's company more than they could have predicted. ( )

It’s another rom-com by Emily Henry – comfortable, funny, with likeable characters, ups and downs, misunderstandings and a happy ever after ending. While some parts were laugh-out-loud funny, sometimes the story dragged on too long for me. And the steamy parts began to get repetitive.

What I liked best were main character Daphne’s heartfelt thoughts and memories about libraries and books. Explaining how she first fell in love with libraries, she thinks “back all the way to the first moment I remember loving a story. Feeling like I was living it. Being, even as a child, bowled over by how something imaginary could become real, could wring every emotion from me or make me homesick for places I’d never been.”

This is a light beach read, focusing on libraries, books, and a budding romance between two very different types of people that discover a chemistry that could make them a couple, despite what each of their ex’s think. ( )

I keep saying that I don't like romance or read romance books. Well, looks like I have to make any book written by Emily Henry and read by Julia Whelan always an exception! I usually listen to audiobooks before I go to sleep so each one takes 7 to 14 nights to finish. I finished listening to this one in 3 days because in addition to listening to at night, I had to listen to it while doing chores or anytime I had a spare minute. Another wonderful summer read for me! ( )

Daphne is getting married to Peter, but at nearly the last minute, he realizes he is in love with his childhood friend, Petra. Now suddenly Daphne has no fiancé and no home. Her job as a children’s librarian is wonderful but barely pays her bills. Offering her a place to stay is Miles, who just was dumped by Petra. Small world, that. The new roommates mostly avoid each other, until they don’t. Not really having much in common, they still bring out the best in each other. A chance phone with Peter has Daphne telling a whopper of a lie—accidentally, of course—and soon the lives of the new roomies are forever changed. This cute romance is a funny story, tender and sweet, and peopled with likable characters. It’s another well-told story by Emily Henry. ( )
