I've learned that I can read sports romance when it's a side plot and not actually a main part of the story haha. Although I do find it hard to pass up a good enemies to lovers story. I am conflicted about how I feel with this one. Everly has moved and is working for her estranged father who has an issue with the person she is casually seeing. He often sends his business partner to pick her up from events with Wes. Declan and Everly have some serious tension pretty early on for sure. When Carl dies, suddenly they find out that the will requires them to marry for a year, with future stipulations to be discussed at three months of marriage. The whole premise of the will was trippy and the legality a bit sketch... however, who doesn't love a fake marriage trope.

I have to admit that while I liked the two main characters it had a lot of moments that I wasn't a fan of. The second part of the will was a big no thank you for me. I have to admit that at times Declan was a bit too much on the possessive alpha male scale. Everly has a very sad background and while it plays a role in the story it doesn't feel like it plays a role until it's able to benefit the plot... the big scene we were waiting for ends up feeling rushed and unnecessary in my opinion. I think that the book had lots of potential and overall it's decent. It has likable tropes and some seriously steamy moments but then so many elements that take you out of the moment. I honestly am so conflicted about how this one made me feel. ( )

Declan and Everly’s story was a fun ride that kept me devouring it page by page. Every is doing what she feels is right in order to get her life back on track, but it seems life keeps throwing wrenches in her plans and one of those is the will of her father. When she is expected to marry Declan so her father’s company will be left in his hands to say she is not thrilled would be a huge understatement. These two almost instantly do. Not like each other, barely tolerate the other but Declan can’t deny his attraction to her. Declan from the time he realizes his attraction becomes this alpha growls intense guy who wants Everly while she constantly fights any and all feelings. The chemistry is off the charts, the flow of the story is amazing, and the characters are easy to fall in love with. ( )
