*A scorchingly hot modern retelling of Eurydice and Orpheus and Charon.*

Eurydice Dimitriou has always been the innocent sister, but she's finally ready to step out of the long shadow cast by her powerful family...and the ex who shattered her heart. Perhaps rough hands on soft skin are exactly what she needs to forget her heartbreak once and for all?

Charon Ariti has been Hades's right-hand man for years. He's given everything to the lower city, but now he's ready to take something for himself. He's only too happy to give Eurydice a special kind of education...but is her heart really free enough to be claimed?

Orpheus Makos will do whatever it takes to make things right. Once the golden boy of the upper city, he's now a shadow of his former self. He'll do anything to get Eurydice back...even if it means she's not coming into his arms alone. Three hearts. Three futures. Countless ways to get it wrong.

But with enemies slipping through Olympus's faltering barrier to lay siege on the lower city, a trio of broken hearts will be the least of these would-be lovers' worries...

Great storyline and plot. Well developed characters. Probably one of the best of the series so far! ( )

MIDNIGHT RUIN is Katee Robert's sixth book in her Dark Olympus series. Because of the nature of the books, I thought this would be a series for which you don't have to read the previous books. While you can do so and pick up most of what is happening, the politics at play make it challenging.

As MIDNIGHT RUIN is only the second book in the series I've read, I did struggle with understanding what I missed. While MIDNIGHT RUIN is a retelling of the Eurydice/Orpheus myth, Ms. Robert makes enough changes for you to struggle if you are looking for similarities. Plus, the series builds on itself. This becomes not just an Eurydice and Orpheus retelling but also a continuation of everything that has occurred.

I find myself more interested in the characters' stories and Katee Robert's world of Olympus than in their sex lives. The idea that someone can become Zeus, Hera, or another of the top thirteen Greek gods still blows my mind. The dynamics are fascinating, and I want to learn all about it. To me, each bedroom scene is nothing but a distraction from the more fascinating parts of the story.

Not that the bedroom scenes are boring. In true Ms. Robert's fashion, they are detailed, intense, and HOT HOT HOT. MIDNIGHT RUIN includes another throuple, and I will admit to being a little jealous of Eurydice given the attention both men pay her. While I am not a fan of polyamory, Ms. Robert builds her relationships in a way that makes sense to me and makes me understand why someone would enter into a polyamorous relationship.

For those who have read the entirety of the Dark Olympus series so far, MIDNIGHT RUIN is exactly what you expect it to be. It has a great balance of spice and intrigue. Moreover, I loved the opportunity to explore the Underworld in greater detail and see Hades from a different perspective. This is a series I want to read in full next year because I know I missed key scenes. Plus, I am a sucker for any Greek mythology retelling, and Katee Robert's versions are so satisfying. ( )

The sixth book in Katee Roberts' Dark Olympus series is called MIDNIGHT RUIN. I assumed that this would be a series where reading the earlier best published books in the series wouldn't be necessary due to the nature of the books. Although you can do so and understand most of what is going on, it is difficult because of the politics involved.
