This is the 2003 paperback edition with two columns---Hebrew and English---on each page. It contains prefaces from the 1999 Hebrew-English edition and the 1985 English edition. At the back is a list of the week Torah readings with their accompanying Haftarot followed by the readings for special Shabbatot and holidays. In terms of content, this is the Bible, at least from a Jewish point of view. If you are not a fan of Hebrew scriptures, this book will have very little to interest you. The translation is very good. It flows very well, and captures some hebraisms, without doing damage to English at the same time. For readers who have a smattering of Hebrew, it is very helpful to have the Hebrew text side by side with the English text. This not, however an interlinear version, where the English words are above the Hebrew words, so you will have to have a bit more than Strong's background to get something from the Hebrew. This contents much of the narrative that formed western culture. Ignore it as your own peril (and I am not talking heaven/hell peril here--it would be like ignoring Shakespeare.) sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
