Set in small-town Oregon, the latest in the witty, charming Witch Way Librarian series from Amazon bestselling and acclaimed author Angela M. Sanders features a spellbinding heroine, a clever cat familiar, colorful locals-and of course, murder. The perfect read for fans of Bailey Cates, Adele Abbott, Juliet Blackwell, and all cozy mystery lovers with a taste for the supernatural. Josie is eager to show off Wilfred's delights to her visiting sister, Jean-even though Josie must conceal her magic from her. In any case, Jean is excited to attend Cookie Masterson's trademark "Ready-Set-Go!" workshop on becoming a life coach. Then there's the grand reopening of Darla's Café, where the doors are thrown open to reveal . . . a dead man, stabbed in the back. That was definitely not on the revamped menuâ?¦ Even more worrisome, the sheriff receives a report of a fresh corpse at the retreat center. Maybe murder isn't so uncommon in Wilfred anymore, but two unfamiliar bodies within an hour certainly is! Josie's willing to let law enforcement take the lead-after all, she's gotten into some trouble from the hints the library's spellbound books keep feeding her about the patrons. But when her sister receives the killer's chilling calling card, she'll use everything within her otherworldly powers to divine just who in town has homicide as his new slogan . . . Praise for Witch and Famous "Red herrings galore compete with witchy library lore in an often-humorous mystery." -Kirkus Rev… (más)

osie’s sister Jean is visiting while attending a workshop for life coaches. Josie’s mom insists she shouldn’t tell Jean about her magic powers, but it’s getting harder for her not to include her sister in the knowledge that all the women in her family - Jean included - have some sort of magical powers. Books speak to Josie, and she is going to need that special help when it comes to solving murders and keeping her sister safe. The sisters team up to eliminate suspects, but they really aren’t very good at it. What they are good at is putting themselves in danger. It’s a good thing Josie lives next door to the sheriff, and it’s a very good thing he has his eye on Josie, for more than one reason. This is a fun cozy, despite the murders, with a very intelligent cat and with books singing and dancing around the library when only Josie is there. Well written with great characters, this series is always a delight. ( )

Witch Upon a Star by Angela M. Sanders is the fourth A Witch Way Library Mystery. It can be read as a standalone for those new to the series. However, reading the series in order will allow you to get to know Josie and her backstory. Witch upon a Star has Josie’s sister coming to town to take part in Cookie Masterson’s life coach seminar. Josie’s sister, Jean, is not known for making the best decisions. Josie needs to be careful that she does not reveal her magic to her sister. I like that Josie’s magic is through books. The books in the Wilfred library speak to her. I thought the book ballet was cute. The mystery was straightforward. I easily solved the whodunit long before the reveal. The twist was not difficult to figure out. I like how the books help Josie solve the mystery. Of course, the books sometimes get Josie into a little hot water. Their antics had me chuckling. I like how Rodney, Josie’s familiar, helps her. I would like to see Josie slow down and think through a decision or thought. If she thought through things, it would prevent some of the silly things she does. There is a significant amount of repetition. After a while, I could repeat the facts verbatim. I ended up doing a little skimming to get through to the end. Wilfred is filled with friendly residents. I like how they have welcomed Josie. Witch Upon a Star is a casual cozy with a book ballet, a sister reunion, a killing in the café, seminar kerfuffle, a magical & feisty feline, obliging books, and sleuthing librarian. ( )

Witch Upon a Star is the fourth book in the Witch Way Librarian series set in Wilfred, Oregon. Josie is well settled in her life as the town's head librarian now and is looking forward to her younger sister's visit. Josie's sister, Jean, cannot be more excited about taking part in a workshop at Wilfred's new retreat center about how to become a life coach, led by her idol, Cookie Masterson.

On the first day of the workshop, two people end up dead, one of which is for sure murder. While one of the deaths occurred at the local café and the other at the retreat center, the two deaths seem to be connected. Josie is even more worried about her sister now, which only increases her determination to conduct her own investigation. Yes, she trusts her neighbor and crush, the sheriff, to do his job--but it's in her blood to help him along.

Interwoven with the mystery is the big secret that Josie is keeping from her sister. That Josie is a witch with a special connection to books. Josie's skills have come in handy at solving crimes (and saving lives) in the past, and she cannot resist using them now.

This series continues to be a big hit with me. I just love Josie and the quirky characters of Wilfred. I admit I had a slight concern going into this one that it would be too much like the last--celebrity/well-known person coming into town, murder and havoc ensues--but I worried for nothing. Yes, there's murder and a bit of havoc, but that's where the similarities end. The mystery in Witch Upon a Star is solid with an interesting cast of suspects. I wasn't sure who was behind everything until close to the end.

Jean and Josie have a fairly good relationship, but not without some tension and misunderstandings as can be expected. Jean still feels like the baby of the family even if she is an adult in her own right. Her mother tasks Josie with keeping an eye on Jean, worried she's in over here head with her new venture. I could appreciate Josie wanting to protect her sister, yet I could also understand Jean's wanting to be trusted to make her own decisions and not be questioned or doubted at every turn.

The library really is a character all its own in this series. It is a Victorian mansion turned library. And the way the books respond and speak to Josie is a booklover's dream come true. And of course there's a cat. Rodney, who is an awesome character on his own. I thoroughly enjoyed Witch Upon a Star and look forward to reading the next book in the series. ( )

Witch Upon a Star by Angela M. Sanders is another fantastic book in the Witch Way Librarian Cozy Mysteries and one of my favorite Paranormal Cozy Series!

I am enchanted with Josie being able to hear books talk to her and to have them help her figure things out and stand as sentinels to protect her and the library. Sometimes they get her in trouble when they make her suggest a book on acne when the library patron comes in looking for a completely different book… which I find amusing. As a book lover and library worker for over 14 years, I would love to have this ability.

And, Rodney, her black cat familiar, is fantastic. He actually helps her out with magical things, when he is not being sassy or snuggling up to a warm fire. I really like this because oftentimes in paranormal cozies the familiar is just there and really doesn't do anything.
Besides Rodney, this series is filled with lots of other great characters, and we get to meet Josie’s sister, Jean. Although Jean doesn’t seem to have any magical powers, you can tell they are just beneath the surface, and I’m interested to see how Sanders will reveal them in a future book. ( )
