"Oddball Ornaments: The Story of Forgiveness" continues the stories of the group of miscellaneous ornaments we met in the first story in the Oddball Ornaments series. This book, geared for middle school students, explores the idea of forgiveness. In addition to the ornaments we already met in the first book which explained the true meaning for the celebration of Christmas, we meet a new ornament, a drummer boy. We also meet the oldest son in the family. The author illustrates the importance of Christmas and relates the love parents have for their children to the way God loves us – His children. With Tommy’s older brother returning, we learn that several years ago he elected to walk away from the family and traveled west. While there, he found himself in a church’s shelter and he learned the true meaning of God’s love. Continuing the theme of learning more about Christmas, interesting characters and plot line, I definitely recommend this book for middle school students or anyone who just enjoys reading about God and Christmas. So check out this book for yourself. I received a complimentary copy of this book, but this in no way influenced my review. All opinions are my own. This is the perfect story to help young children understand about the birth of Jesus. The author brings the story to life with the oddball ornaments. They each have unique personalities and bring joy to each other. I could picture them on the tree talking and watching the family as they placed decorations around the tree. This year the oddball ornaments are excited once gain to be out of their dusty boxes in the attic and displayed on the Christmas tree. It is fun to read how the ornaments talk to each other and are curious about Christmas. I loved how the author explained about traditions that different families have during Christmas. The ornaments were excited to learn all this new information. The story explores forgiveness and gives examples of how forgiveness is for everyone. There is a part in the story that made me cry. I won’t give that part away but it is a great example of true forgiveness. The ornaments were shocked at first but when the Angel explained they rejoiced. A great story of the birth of Jesus, celebrating Christmas and learning bout forgiveness. I received a copy of this book from Celebrate Lit. The review is my own opinion. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
Every Thanksgiving, the Oddball Ornaments are pulled out of the attic and hung on the tree to enjoy the holiday season with the humans. This Christmas, the Oddball Ornaments can't wait to learn more about this special holiday. But when a new ornament is hung on the tree, they find themselves left with even more questions than before. What does a drummer boy have to do with Christmas? In this heartwarming story for children of all ages, the Oddball Ornaments will see how Christmas is all about love and forgiveness and how God can take a broken family and heal hurting hearts. The Nutcracker, the Ballerina, and the Train are a few of the previous characters we got to know, and they're the ones we follow as the wise treetop Angel, who has a special understanding of the family, teaches them about forgiveness.
This delightful book is ideal for Christmas story time with the family. Although it was written with middle school readers in mind, it is enjoyable and instructive for readers of all ages to reap valuable lessons from it.
I really enjoy the concept idea of the ornaments acting as observers of everything that transpires in the household. This presents a unique perspective and frame of reference. Through the ornaments' visual orientation and their vantage position, we can hear the family's conversations and interactions.
This narrative elegantly and articulately explains the meaning of Christmas and forgiveness, so you won't want to miss it.
I received this book from Celebrate Lit. However, my review is voluntary, and all opinions are my own. ( )
