This book contains reproductions of the famous Cottingley fairies together with a detailed analysis of their authenticity by British writer Author Conan Doyle. The Cottingley fairies were a series of five photographs taken by two young cousins who resided in Cottingley, near Bradford in England. The photographs purportedly captured images of fairies, and gained widespread attention at the time. They were later admitted to be fakes by the girls-except one, which Frances maintained was in fact real and the inspiration or the forgeries. Contents include: "How The Matter Arose", "The First Published Account--'Strand' Christmas Number, 1920", "Reception Of The First Photographs", "The Second Series", "Observations Of A Clairvoyant In The Cottingley Glen, August 1921", "Independent Evidence For Fairies", "Some Subsequent Cases", "The Theosophic View Of Fairies", etc. Sir Arthur Ignatius Conan Doyle (1859 - 1930) was a British writer most famous for his detective novels that feature Sherlock Holmes. Other notable works by this author include: "The Mystery of Cloomber" (1888) and "Sir Nigel" (1906). Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with the original text and artwork.… (más)
