The poems in this volume were written between March 2020 and March 2022 as the brutal reality of the coronavirus pandemic became evident, and lockdown, masks and that terribly ironic phrase 'social distancing' began to be markers of seclusion and isolation. Some of these poems address the emotional terrain of the pandemic, but others wandered down other paths, including family, politics, and the natural world. Each poem was sparked by a line offered as a prompt in an early morning writing collective. Although the borrowed line inspired each poem, both the direction traveled as the writer followed the inspiration of their line, and the form of the poems, were often radically different from the original author's intent.
