The delightful story of young witch Kiki who sets off on her own after her 13th birthday to prove her independence and find her powers. Kiki lands in a sprawling city by the sea and uses her broom flying skills to get a job as a delivery girl, carrying packages for customers after the kind owners of the town bakery take her in. True to everything I've ever watched by Hayao Miyazaki, Kiki's Delivery Service is charming and heartfelt with beautifully detailed animation. The setting is stunningly rendered, so it's easy to see why Kiki was drawn to the town as a place for her to settle! Like most Miyazaki films, Kiki's Delivery Service has wide appeal for audiences of all ages and a timelessness that will help the story to stay relevant for years to come. ( )

2010 version has new version of English dubbing. The 2010 does not have added music by Sydney Forest, sound effects and dialogs (most notably by Phil Hartman as Jiji) which were added for the dub. It has the two Japanese intro/credit songs restored.

2/4 (Indifferent).
The first two thirds of the movie are charming, if slow. The ending is a frustrating mess. ( )
