The second book in the Mead Mishaps series follows our favorite cheese seller, Brie, that we met in the first book. This story picks up shortly after the events of book one and incorporates characters from the first book. Brie finds herself being harassed by one of the locals who does not understand how to take a hint. After a mishap with a love potion, she now has a werewolf following her around like a duckling. Brie is convinced the new attention is fully due to the love potion, but the werewolf firmly believes the feelings are true. While trying to handle her complicated potential love life, girls in town start to go missing. The town of course wants to believe it is due to the new creatures that have moved to town, despite there being no evidence of their involvement. Looking forward to picking up the next book in this series to see what happens next! For me, this book is perfect lol. I really enjoyed book one in this series, That Time I Got Drunk and Saved a Demon, and I was so happy with this book. Kimberly Lemming is fast becoming one of my favorite authors - I love how she shifts from serious to hilarious and back with such ease. This book involves a love spell that was meant for one character (Brie) accidentally getting used on another (Felix). The roofey aspect of love spells is addressed and how consent is taken away from the person that has had a love spell used on them. The author did a pretty good job navigating this - and it does make me consider wider questions like how to consent or is there consent in altered states? Consent is dynamic so it should be practiced that way - checking-in and verbalizing concerns or needs and changes to those things is normal. CW: love spells (loss of consent), misogyny, cults ,tentacles, bondage, explicit sex Thank you to NetGalley and Orbit Books for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. Pub Date: February 6, 2024 Another quick, fun fantasy romance from Kimberly Lemming! Plenty of spice in this one too. The creativity of the insults hits me in just the right spot and I love how the characters interact. If you are looking for something light with plenty of spice I definitely recommend! I'm excited to continue and see who the next book focuses on! sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

HTML: Anyone else ever thrown a drink at someone's head, only to miss entirely and hit a stranger behind them? Then have that stranger fall madly in love with you because it turned out that drink you threw was a love potion? No, just me? Well damn. â?? Dealing with a pirate ship full of demons that just moved into town was hard enough. Now on top of it, I have to convince a werewolf that I'm not his fated mate, he's just drugged. Easier said than done. â?? Though I have to say, having a gorgeous man show up and do all of your chores while telling you you're beautiful isn't the worst thing to happen to a girl No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

Thoughts: This was a fun and slightly dirty humorous paranormal read that I enjoyed. I think if you enjoyed the first book in this series, you will enjoy this one as well.
This book follows Brie (who we met some in the first book) who has an unwanted suitor. When she grabs what she thinks is a normal drink to throw at the head of this unwanted suitor, she accidentally hits the werewolf behind him and finds out that it was a love potion. Now she has a werewolf determined that he is her fated mate and she doesn't know if it's true or if it's the love potion. Then girls start disappearing from town, and Brie is worried for both her safety and the safety of her friends.
This is just a light-hearted humorous romance with creatively explicit sex scenes and a little mystery (the mystery is definitely in the background of the story). It's a fun, quick diversion. This is definitely not a deeply involved fantasy story but a humorous situational romance with a bit of a mystery in the background that carries on the back story from the first book.
I didn't find Brie to be that different from the character in the first book, and Felix was (similar to the male lead in the first book) giving off serious alpha vibes. The whole story has a very feminist bent to it, which is fun.
There isn't anything super special in here, but if you are looking for a humorous, slightly raunchy fantasy romance that is a quick read, I would recommend it!
My Summary (4/5): Overall I enjoyed this. This is a quick, humorous, sexy read set in a fantasy world. There is a slight plot outside the romance, but the romance is the main driver behind the story. The sex scenes are very explicit (so a heads up if that bothers you) but are fun and well done. I plan on continuing with this series. These books have been short and fun diversions between other more serious reads. ( )
