"I knocked up my best friend's sister. Figured I would get straight to the point because how it happened is a mere snippet of the story I have to tell. The real meat and potatoes is what happened after. Let's start with how she decided to inform me and Pacey the news . . . together. Imagine that nightmare. I was going into what I thought was a hockey marketing meeting and then BAM! I'm going to be a dad and my best friend/teammate is attempting to imprint my face with his fist. It wasn't pretty. Threats were tossed around, friendships were revoked, and then I was marched up to her apartment, suitcases in hand, and forced to live with her so I could take care of her every need. Given how much I've pined for the girl, you would think that wouldn't be a hardship. Wrong. This is my one shot to win my teammate back. Pacey is the only family I've got, so hooking up with his sister isn't a mistake I can make twice . . . despite the fact that she's pregnant with my child. But with every mood swing, every pair of pants that doesn't fit right, and every late night run to find the perfect donut, I'm finding it harder and harder not to fall for my best friend's little sister. Especially when she kisses me..." --… (más)

I am not sure where to begin with my praise for this book. There was something about Penny and Eli that was magic for me. Penny's insecurities, rambling and lack of impulsive control were a perfect match-up for Eli's kindness, patience and desperation to be truly loved.

I lost count of the number of times I had to stop the audio because I was laughing so hard. There are at least three scenes in this book that had me in hysterical laughter, including tears. The narration was brilliant. Kelsey Navarro was the absolute perfect Penny and delivered both the funny and the emotion.

Another thing I liked about this book was the way it ended. Satisfying for me and really made me want to know more about what is going on with the other characters in the book. Looking forward to the rest of this series from Meghan Quinn. ( )

Parts of this were actually very amusing and fun to read. But some of it was also pretty painful and irritating. Penny was … something else. I’ll leave it at that. She was a lot. And not always in a good way. Very awkward and rambling and immature. Eli had issues. But he at least was in therapy for his problems. However, the therapist apparently didn’t do him any good towards the end when he actually could’ve used the extra help. Maybe the fact that he had a therapist was just something the author didn’t consider at the time, but I can’t imagine the problems Penny and Eli had towards the end continuing for as long as they did if he was talking them over with his therapist. But no. Therapist conveniently missing.

But like I said, this book was fun in parts. Not so fun and others. But if you like hockey romances and surprise pregnancies, then this book might be up your alley. If you like childish pranks and a couple who can’t seem to keep their hands off each other even when they don’t seem to particularly like each other, then you might like this book. To me, there’s just a lot of needless drama that stemmed from bad or completely lacking communication. And after a while, it just got to be kind of frustrating. ( )

Eli knew it was a mistake to take his best friend, Pacey's sister, Penny back to his apartment after they'd had so many drinks, but he just couldn't stand the thought of being alone on his birthday. When Penny tells him and her brother that she is pregnant, Eli is sure that he has lost his best friend forever, and that he knows nothing about being a father since his was never around. He understands, though, that being there for Penny is the least he can do, so when Pacey insists that he move in with his sister, Eli agrees. What he doesn't expect is how attracted he is to Penny and how much he likes her and her sense of humor. However, Pacey has made it clear that Eli is to be nothing more than friends with Penny, and he can't stand the thought of losing another important person in his life.

Those Three Little Words is based on the surprise pregnancy trope and does it very well with humor and likable characters who take responsibility for their actions. However, this book is much too long for the amount of plot it contains due to irrational actions and reactions by some of the characters. Cutting down the length of the story would have made it much better, but even with those issues, the book remains an enjoyable read. Overall, Those Three Little Words is a very engaging romance that could have been much better with a little more revision. ( )
