A somewhat fictionalized biography of famous painter Vincent Van Gogh, told from the perspective of a young boy, Peter De Groot, whose family's cottage Van Gogh often painted at. The book provides a nice survey of Van Gogh's major works, along with Peter's commentary on what was going on in Van Gogh's life at the time he painted certain works. The book glosses over Van Gogh's mental illness, but does still mention it in context of The Starry Night being painted while Van Gogh was in a hospital. I don't believe anything is touched on too heavily that would necessarily be upsetting to an average young reader, and this makes a nice introduction to some beautiful paintings and one of history's most recognizable artists.
