Women are effectively serving in ministry in the modern-day in unparalleled ways. Their service is in spite of the "traditional" interpretative restrictions placed upon them by 1 Timothy 2:12. How is it possible that our traditional interpretation of 1 Timothy 2:12 which restricts women from leading, teaching (or preaching) if men are present could be correct? In addition, Acts 2:17-18 gives a last days' prophecy which describes men and women serving in ministry without regard to their gender. Women are not serving behind men, but rather, alongside them, each serving in giftedness and in roles, unrelated to gender. The modern traditional interpretation of 1 Timothy 2:12 actually contradicts the interpretation of Acts 2:17-18 unless the two apply to different time periods. That is, Acts 2:17-18 applies as we approach the return of Christ while 1 Timothy 2:12 applies to earlier periods. This book will provide a fresh look at women in ministry. At a time in history when both men and women are needed, this book will give a Biblical perspective for a more-likely interpretation of key passages that have previously limited women in ministry for over 2000 years Its intent is to encourage the many women God is calling into ministry in roles traditionally limited to men to listen to the Holy Spirit rather than their well-meaning, Godly, brothers in Christ.… (más)
