I was able to escape for a little while into a small Southern town with delightful residents. I love a story with strong female characters and this one did not disappoint. It is especially refreshing to have great characters that are a bit older; a reminder that life is still good “over-40.” Cricket, Honey, and Pearl are the kind of women I would love to have as friends. Some of the situations Cricket got them into made me laugh. One of my favorite characters is Mr. P. He is a spunky, yet vulnerable elderly man. And I loved the “Southern-isms”. I think my favorite was “she could start an argument in an empty room”. And, of course, I adored Angus, her father’s rescue dog that Cricket keeps when her father is away. This story has friendship, romance, humor, and a light mystery that leads to some of the antics Cricket finds herself in. I highly recommend this book. It is sure to put a smile on your face. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Thank you to the author for this book which I won on a FB page.
There are few books I've read where the main characters is in her 40s but it was a nice change and to me she seemed much younger for some reason but she did mention a few times how old she was and the aging things that "older" women have. I don't consider 40s old believe me.
A sweet (pun intended) book which indicates the title but that really was referenced only once when Cricket made pecan pie for breakfast like her mama used to do. The plot was a little too coincidental in that she trips over something on her first date since her divorce and lands in this man's lap and then finds out that not only is he the son of a client of hers (she has a caregivers service), but he also bought the house that she wanted to buy but he got it before she did.
It was humorous at times especially when she goes with her best friend Honey (these Southern names crack me up), to a mountain climbing retreat to tell off her ex-husband who left her in the lurch without saying goodbye. They don disguises too. LOL. Also worth telling about is that she tries to fix up her Aunt Joy who retired after 40 years of teaching and lonely with her neighbor.
What can I say about Angus the dog? He was so adorable and glad he was a big part of her life and the book. He is her Dad's dog but she was living in his rental apartment above his house and he was busy with his traveling by railroad loving his life and keeping in touch with her throughout.
It was a little "churchy" at times (Cricket's word not mine) with her speaking in Bible and talking to her mother but it wasn't preachy. ( )
