This is one of those authors that I know is going to give me a story that sucks me in from the first paragraph and keeps me until the very end. Boy, howdy did she did that to me with this book. The blurb of this is spot on but it also is something so much more. This author is gifted at building suspense in her stories and giving just enough morsels of information to whet the appetite. There is a bigger mystery here and I couldn't wait to unpack it.
Strong characters, suspense, mystery, a grumpy/aloof man that makes me posit what is he hiding, an adorable little girl, and a fiery nanny. There was something about the characters, Beau and Jane, that drew me in. They both had backstories that gave a little bit of information, just enough to nibble on, but the author still left so much untold and I found that I really liked that. It made the story take on new meaning because it both foreshadowed but also gave insight. Quite a remarkable feat that kept me reading as fast as I could. I always like it when a story has me bummed when there are no more pages to turn.
I look forward to the next installment. ( )
