"Katy Birchall's The Secret Bridesmaid is a modern British romcom about a young woman charged with pulling off the biggest aristocratic wedding of the year--and the misadventures that ensue. Sophie Breeze is a brilliant bridesmaid. So brilliant, in fact, that she's made it her full-time job. As a professional bridesmaid, Sophie is hired by London brides to be their right-hand woman, posing as a friend but working behind the scenes to help plan the perfect wedding and ensure their big day goes off without a hitch. When she's hired by Lady Victoria Swann--a former model and "It Girl" of 1970's London; now the Marchioness of Meade--for the society wedding of the year, it should be a chance for Sophie to prove just how talented she is. Of course, it's not ideal that the bride, Lady Victoria's daughter, Cordelia, is an absolute diva and determined to make Sophie's life a nightmare. It's also a bit inconvenient that Sophie finds herself drawn to Cordelia's posh older brother, who is absolutely off limits. But when a rival society wedding is announced for the very same day, things start to get...well, complicated. Can Sophie pull off the biggest challenge of her career--execute a high-profile gala for four hundred and fifty guests in record time, win over a reluctant bride, and catch the eye of handsome Lord Swann--all while keeping her true identity a secret, and her dignity intact? Heartwarming and hilarious, The Secret Bridesmaid celebrates the joys (and foibles) of weddings, the nuances of female friendship, and the redeeming power of love in its many unexpected forms"--… (más)

I went into this expecting a romance but got something much more which I adored. This recalls beloved early Kinsella and Keyes books in its growth, sismances and having such a fun heroine, and I enjoyed every bit of it.

As written in blurb, our lead Sophie is a wedding planner behind the scenes making sure the important day goes without a hitch a role she excels in. There comes the opportunity to do this in the wedding of the year and of course hijinks ensure.

I had some genuine laugh out loud moments in this book and enjoyed the various themes that were woven in it. We can’t forget the romance but honestly this book was more about Sophie and her life and growth and I was truly very okay with that.

Read for a great time. I am looking forward to more books by the author.

Thanks so much Goodreads and the Publisher for the print ARC.

I loved this book. The story of Sophie/Emily and not only a "friendship" with the bride of a socialite family and her steamy, attractive brother. All though the book, I felt there was detailed character development and at the end I wanted to see how it all ended up. I did like the HEA ending. I would like to thank netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. I highly recommend this book. ( )

This was super cute and not what I thought it was going to be. I loved the professional bridesmaid aspect.

I do feel this was much more chic lit than romance. The romance is very limited and it is much more around friendship between the main character and the upcoming bride.

I still enjoyed this one! ( )

This is not the best book ever written, but it was absolutely everything I needed it to be. Funny, sweet, heartfelt, self-aware. ( )

This was an enjoyable and fun light read. The banter was hilarious, and Sophie felt real and easy to relate to. The idea of running a business as a secret wedding helper/bridemaid was interesting, but wow, sounds like a massive amount of work. It was a great hook for a story though, and certainly caught my attention. I'm not a huge fan of romances, but this felt natural and the story had far more to it than Sophie's romantic life. I liked it and would recommend it to friends. ( )
