"In the latest installment of the Killer Instinct series, seventeen-year-old Jenny is abducted in broad daylight and taken to a dilapidated, isolated house where she is chained and caged along with several other girls. Their captor is unpredictable, and as wily as he is cruel: he foils every one of their desperate attempts to escape... and once caught they rarely survive their punishment. Five years later, Jenny is found dead in a public park, and the police are scrambling to find a lead among the scant evidence. But Detective Joona Linna realizes that this murder has an eerie connection to a death that was declared a suicide years before. And now when Mia, a seventeen-year-old orphan, goes missing, it becomes clear to Joona that they are dealing with a serial killer-and the murderous rampage has just begun. As the police close in on the killer, Mia and her fellow captives are plunged into ever greater danger, and Joona finds himself in a seemingly impossible race against time to save their young lives"--… (más)

The mirror man was a long and not so rapid read. But it was well worth it. It slowly takes hold of you and begins to gather speed along the way. If your into intense, dark and disturbing psychological thrillers with some human evil thrown in, The mirror Man is for you. It was my first book by Lars Kepler that I have read and I truly enjoyed the story from start to finish ( )

I have read every other book in this series, and wanted to finish this one. However, the coverage of kidnapping, abuse and murder of young women was just over the top for me about half way through. I skimmed the ending, but didn't care enough about how things played out to keep reading. ( )

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for this review copy. The English translation of this releases today!

I really enjoyed this new book in this series. This is a bit of a return to form after the Jurek plot was wrapped up in the last book. I enjoyed seeing Joona solve a new mystery that is mostly unrelated to previous books. This book had the same very fast pace of the previous books with the same high-stakes ending that kept me reading, which I really enjoy.

I mostly like the way this was plotted. I was never really able to guess anything that happened with the plot. The whole time I was so curious about the motive of the killer and that definitely kept me reading. We have very little information about motives until the end and I mostly enjoyed that as it made me more curious about how the story would unfold. The actual conclusion for this mystery was a motive that I personally don't enjoy very much We find out that Martin and Caesar are the same people and Martin has DID. DID is a very controversial diagnosis that is based in really poor psychiatric practices and there's skepticism about whether it's a real mental illness. I personally just don't really enjoy it as an explanation for crimes but that's probably more personal preference than anything wrong with the book.

I feel like this series has been able to maintain the quality of the story throughout that books and this one is no different. At the end, we get a hint that Jurek might still be alive and after Joona. I think I would prefer he not come back but if he does, I'll still read those books. I would definitely encourage fans of this series to pick up this book. ( )

«Vi skriver alltid om det vi er reddest for», sier ekteparet som står bak pseudonymet Lars Kepler. De har tre tenåringsdøtre, og de fremstiller det som et slags forfatter-offer at de i denne boka skriver om unge jenter som sperres inne i bur, halshugges, gasses i hjel og tortureres til døde.

Selv synes jeg boka var en pine å lese, og måtte ta pauser fra de mest groteske scenene.
