Against the Flow showcases the most recent architecture by Austrian offices the Austrian contribution to the 2004 9th International Architecture Exhibition Vienna. Starting from diametrically opposed points, these offices are developing their thinking and practices independently. Many of the projects including the acclaimed Tyrolean supermarket M-Preis are seen here for the first time. Essays by internationally renowned authors explore what it means to work against the flow by describing the new context for architectural practice created by these increasingly influential Austrian architectural offices.
