Summary: This book of poetry is a book of some spooky yet funny Halloween poems all by different poets. One of the poems it "The Headless Horseman's Haircut by Linda Nause. The poem is about a headless horseman who thinks his hair is getting to be too long and scruffy because he hadn't had a decent cut in over twenty years. He hears of a barber who other headless horsemen have recommended and goes there. He leaves his head with the barber and says he'll come back when he's done. Personal Reaction: Overall I really liked the entire book because Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. This poem in particular stood out to me because when I started reading it I wasn't quite sure how it was going to go. I thought it was funny. Classroom Extension Ideas: 1. The poems in this book mostly make sense to read around Halloween so talking this would be good just going over different Halloween customs. 2. This particular poem could be good to read if a student has tried cutting their own hair we could use it as an example that even headless horsemen get their hair cut by a barber so we shouldn't try and cut our hair ourselves. Summary of book This poetry book has a Halloween theme. The Awful Ogre’s Breakfast, is a funny poet the rhymes that is about what an ogre eats. The poem, I thought I saw a Ghost Last Night, is a funny rhyming poem about a lady who thinks her reflect in the mirror is ghost. Personal reaction I found the book very entertaining. The book was funny and gross. I automatically thought about reading this book to my boys. Extension Idea Explain the different kinds of poetry. Have the students write their own funny poem. Have student draw of paint a picture about their poem. Have students present their work. Summary- This book is a collection of short poems. They are funny and creepy. Most are about gross things or things that are scary. it has a poem about a dad who is a "scardy cat". There are poems that are about creatures under the bed, in the classroom, at dinner, etc. Personal Reaction- This would be so cute to read to students at Halloween. A lot of Halloween poems are dark and dreary but these poems are light and fun. I think kids would really enjoy them. Extensions- 1) Have kids write their own "creepy" poem. 2) Draw a picture that illustrates their poem. Poems galore of monsters and goblins. This book shows two headed monsters, creepy pizza, vampire brats, frankenswine, and lots more. My favorite poem is called Science Homework, because this little boy was doing his science homework, but his homework turned into a giant glob that ate everything. The little boy went to school upset because his homework ate his dog. Halloween is one of my favorite holidays, not only because we can dress up, but I can be extra crafty when making decorations around the house as well as foods. One extension idea for the classroom by incorporating science is by making slime. Another extension idea is to incorporate history, and discuss how Halloween originated. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña
