Katee Robert just has a chokehold on me. I just love her books, I can't get enough. I truly loved this story and I'm even more in love with Hook and TInk. I can't wait to continue reading this universe. ( )

Disney characters reimagined: Captain Hook, Tinkerbell, & Peter Pan

Synopsis & Notes:

I love a character overcoming personal trauma and finding the love they deserve, and this book DELIVERS in the form of Tink, our sassy and beloved spitfire.

In the third Wicked Villains installment we finally get to learn more about the dark backstory of Tink and her previous escape from a very abusive relationship.

While Tink was under the control of that abusive former territory leader, Hook couldn’t help her. But now he has overthrown the aforementioned awful leader and taken his place, and he can finally fight for Tink.

Hook is all things delightfully dark and mysterious, but also has one of the biggest hearts of the series tucked inside his swashbuckling bravado. The two of them together are a bonfire level of 🔥, not to mention the spice level in this one gets jacked way up 🥵🥵🥵

All in all, this is my second favorite of the series. ( )

I probably liked this one the least so far but I still liked it enough to give it four stars. I wasn't exactly looking forward to this book because I didn't really care about Tink but I think this was a pretty successful romance.

This book definitely was the most separate from the rest of the series in that the other characters didn't show up quite as much. I would also say that this is the most plot heavy book. It's still largely focused on the romance but there was a stronger external conflict in this book and I really enjoyed that. This book is similar to the others so I think if you enjoyed those you'll like this one. This book is about the same length but it took me longer to read. There's a lot of introspection still due to Tink's past abuse but I thought that was an interesting part of this book.

I liked the couple in this book. I also got a moment that I had been wanting to see in one of these books. Tink uses her safe word and I think that's always a really compelling part of a BDSM romance because you get to see how their partner reacts and get to read the comfort that goes with that. I was still kind of wishy-washy about Tink but I really liked Hook. We got some of his back story but I would have loved to see even more. I hope we continue to see him in later books because I think he's one of my favorite characters so far. There was other plot stuff going on but I would have loved to have a few more scenes talking about Tink's clothing business. We get a few but I think it could have been easily folded into discussions of the role Tink would play in Hook's territory and it would let the readers learn more about her business.

This series continues to be super strong. I'm intrigued by the next book about Beast. It's funny to me that the rest of these books have names separate from the character but the next book is just called The Beast. Hopefully I'll pick it up soon and it'll be just as good. ( )

This series is getting better and better. Katee Robert is fantastic at writing these stories. The right amount of erotica, the right amount of plot and characters so compelling to read you can't help but rooting for them to find their happiness.
Tink and Hook are really complicated people, hurt so deeply they don't even know what friendship and love mean. But they soon discover it. Not only that, they learn to open their hearts to their friends too.
Bonus point: Some MFM and MMF scenes that will leave you hot and definitely not bothered.

I received an ARC of this book to read in exchange for a fair review. A Worthy Opponent is the third book in Katee Robert's deliciously steamy Wicked Villains series. I think you need to read the first two in order to get optimum enjoyment out of this book. The heroine Tink (Tatiana) appears in the first two books, and she begins to come into her own of the course of the series, becoming the kick-ass, smart mouth pocket Venus that she is in this book. The premise of the series is that the villains are the heroes, and the heroes are really the villains, it’s super-steamy, and many of the scenes take place in a sex club with multiple partners. Tink escaped an extremely abusive relationship with Peter Pan, and in exchange for his protection, she gave Hades her service for five years. Her time is up, and she’s concerned that Peter is still after her, and she asks Hades if she can stay on and is turned down flat. Jameson Hook, with whom she has a lust/hate relationship, offers her protection in exchange for her on her knees, in his bed, with his ring on her finger.
When Peter attacks her minutes after leaving the Underworld, she realizes that Hook is her safest option even though she doesn’t trust him and is pretty sure what he wants from her is bait to lure Peter out. If you like your hero’s dark, your heroines feisty and your steam level hot, this is definitely the book/series for you. Content Warning for domestic violence.
