This is a second chance romance, they had a dalliance when they were younger Nathan has now returned to Green Valley. Nathan is a single dad of an eleven year old daughter and a seventeen year old. This the first book in the series so there are secondary characters that could have possible future storylines developing through the series. It's also part of Penny Reid Smartypants romance series so there are references to places and people readers have heard of before in the Winston brothers series. Esp lovely was Naomi's memories of Bethany Winston. There is the odd mention of the other Winstons. For the safety gang. They are separated by many years and the Hero has a daughter so he's been involved with others. On the night they first talk at the supermarket he is buying condoms and although the scene is hilarious it did leave me with an ew feeling as you are given the impression he is preparing for a night out. He thinks to himself of Naomi 'It would be hard to recall one in twenty of the women I’d slept with over nearly the same number of years, but Naomi always stood out. That one girl your mind refuses to forget.' Regarding the condoms he is seeing another woman with no strings and he thinks 'The remaining condoms in my satchel come to mind, and I’m suddenly thinking of using a few with someone other than Charlese.' He is supposed to visit the other woman one night and runs into the heroine and they go for coffee and he never goes to a&e the other woman. He later says after the supermarket night he isn't with anyone else, so I assume after the 'remaining condoms' comment he was just with other woman that night. There is no on page drama with other woman. No intimate scenes with anyone other than the Hero and heroine. Naomi never really moved on from that night together, 19 years ago. 'It’s Nathan. Nathan Ryder. The last man I kissed, and I want a repeat.' There is also some history between the Hero and the Iron Wraiths. Some interesting details. HEA. Nathan and Naomi. Naomi Winters celebrated her 21st birthday in style, but a tragedy afterward has kept her frozen as a woman since. Nathan Ryder was the guy who helped her celebrate but eighteen years later he returns to Green Valley with two daughters and different goals. When they run into each other, they must decide if they want to pursue this second chance. This is my second Sassypants book and I have to say I was disappointed. The overall idea is good, but the execution wasn't. I had a hard time relating to Naomi; her fallback into Wicca didn't seem realistic and some of her practices were just odd for that religion. Also, I don't believe there was one scene where she was reading which seemed unlikely for a librarian who loved books. I like second chance romances and I also liked Nathan though his attraction to Naomi seemed more like nostalgia. The writing drove me crazy. There's a lot of repetition. Other reviews talk about phrases and words being repeated, but paragraphs and sentences reiterated the same sentiments over and over. It really slowed the story down. I guess it just wasn't for me, not that it will stop me from reading other Sassypants books. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

Naomi Winters will be forty-soon-ish-and she's only been with one man. One night. One time. Long ago. She believes everything happens for a reason, and the universe spoke about Nathan Ryder. Nathan Ryder isn't the same man who hightailed his bike out of Green Valley eighteen years ago. As a rule breaker, women are one area he acts a fool. Case in point…the local librarian. He can't get a read on her, but she's one risk he's willing to take. Again. What do an eccentric librarian and a sexy silver biker have in common? More than you think. The due date on their love might not be expired after all. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |

Mmm… it was okay. I did like how the author featured Wiccan elements and mature characters leads into the storyline. Otherwise did anything else stand out? Not really. Pretty mediocre if you ask me in which case put why I put this read in my drop pile.
