I don't entirely love the writing of this book, or what feels like a deep (and far too specific) marginalization of Rose & Rey, but that is absolutely made up for by having so much Leia and THE BIG REVEAL. I'm copy-pasting my live plurk for the whole read below. Spoilers definitely existing inside it. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ ‘Balked, but eventually bent’ Great phrasing. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ This harrowing background music. Forever I will own all the hardcovers, but listen to these amazing audio plays of the new books. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ LEIA. / ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ ”It was the nature of war, to put its children through Hell.” ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ Guuuuhhh. This piece about not judging because of the size of the demons in her own closet. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ I feel like forgiveness of Black Squadron scene was sssoo too easily wavable not a problem. I really hope some part of this book has repercussions that aren’t just self-imposed narrative man pain guilt n’ anguish. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ I agree with Maz. He is too arrogant and remorse isn’t realistic in him yet. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ The First Order is stealing children?????? (MAGISTERIUM CROSSOVER.) ko♏ix of course they Are ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ OMG OMG OMG OMG. WEDGE REACTING TO BEING TOLD ABOUT LUKE. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ bbaaabbbbyyyy ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ I have so many more feelings about this than every chapter before that except for Leia's. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ OMG RANSOLM SHOUT OUT. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ Iiiii love that I read the right Leia before that. It makes me super feel like the universe was looking out for me. I love all of Leon’s chapters the best so far. She’s so amazing. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ This not revealing of who this person, even though you totally know who it is if you've read the clues coming up on them finally saying the name at the very end of this chapter. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ "I'm just a junker." ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ I have a lot of feelings about what we're seeing with Rey and where I think it is going. Especially because of a pop release, too. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ Poe has a lot of excuses in this book. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ Rey seems pretty ignored through like the middle of this novel. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ RANSOLM!!! ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ Everyone sweats a lot on this book. CodeNinja Is this worth getting. I'm liking what I've been setting around but I'm still on the fence. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ Like a lot. It’s their go-to reaction. It’s kind bothersome how often it happens. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ CodeNinja: I am rating it sort of a 7 out of 10 for prep for the movie/it’s writing but like 9 out 10 for being an unexpected but sure 100% direct follow-up to Leia’s Bloodline Book. CodeNinja Okay cool I liked Bloodline, so I most likely will like this too, ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ The Rey-in-the-Corner of this so far is really constant. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ Also, this Finn is “just friends” things feels a lot more like Rose Erasure everywhere. I don’t even have huge feelings about this ship. But it being an important movie moment, then the clothes thing this year, and now this, too? Yeah. No. That’s too on party. GorramWolfsays nods I like the book, but yes, scoring about the same for the same reasons ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ The train fight scene has such great music and radio play sounds added. I never stop loving the background pieces of these recordings. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ Please don’t let this gift be as predictable as it seems so far. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ Oh, hey, look, Rose has been here the whole time without scenes, background mentions, or dialogue, too? Rrriiiggghhhttt. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ I love Leia, Poe, and Finn, but there are more people in these groups now. Who feel really semi-non-existent in this book. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ Also, that semi-hint about Leia knowing Rey needs someone more than Luke or her for her power. And. Oh gee. I wonder if you mean your son. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ RANSOLM IS REAL AND ALIVE AND IF HE MAKES IT ANOTHER HOUR, HE COULD BE IN MY MOVIE. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ Also. I'm down to one hour. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ oh oh oh oh oh I'm not ready for this. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ This is the last 20 minutes. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ LAST CHAPTER STARTING NOW. ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ askjdhakljhflksdjhfg ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ leia and ransolm leia and ransolm leia and ransolm leia and ransolm leia and ransolm leia and ransolm leia and ransolm ɑรรɑรรiɳcɑptɑiɳ MY. SOUL. MY. HEART. I'M SO SO SO SO GLAD I READ BLOODLINES AT THE RIGHT TIME, WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING I WAS GOING TO NEED IT FOR THIS. sin reseñas | añadir una reseña

This is a dark time for the rebellion and Leia’s chapters are emotional, but I loved seeing from her perspective and watching her relationship with Rey develop. I don’t think Roanhorse managed to capture Rey’s character, but there was nothing that annoyed me about the portrayal either, so I didn’t mind. Poe’s character lacked the humor that I’m used to, but that mainly results from his character arc and him trying to find his place in leadership after the events of TLJ. Wedge’s POV was my favorite to read and I loved learning more about him and seeing his personality.
Resistance Reborn did a great job capturing the time right after TLJ and I really think there is potential to explore more of the rebellion during this time. I’d love to see more books like this one in the EU in the future as well as more Star Wars books by this author.
