Another in this well written, but little known Civil War series. Although written a century ago, the author writes in a succinct, modern style that will appeal to both the novice and those particularly interested in the American Civil War.

This book concerns the adventures of a young Confederate soldier in the events surrounding the battles of Fredericksburg, Chancellorsville, Brandy Station (the largest cavalry battle of the war) and, of course, culminating with the Battle of Gettysburg.

The author writes historical fiction, yet each book in the series is closely based in fact. The reader will not only enjoy the work, but gain knowledge about the war. ( )
