This is a non-fictional book, which goes into depth about types of weather. It also discusses the different types of equipment that we use in order to predict weather or find out certain information based on weather. The purpose of the books is to show weather forecasters at work in a weather station. It also shows how they use specific equipment to understand changes in the weather. ( )

Have you ever wondered how a meteorologist knows what to say on TV about the weather? This book tells you some of the ways the weather forecast is created and how important it is to many people to have an accurate forecast. ( )

The book that I have read is called weather forecasting and its about the how the weather stations get their information. The book also talks about what each instrument does and what each person at the weather stations does. For example the weather forecasters predict the weather. It also talks about how the weather changes in each season.
I like this book because it explains everything very well and also because I actually learned something from the book. This a good way to explain to my future student on how they predict the weather and how much time it goes into it. I loved the pictures that they included in the book.
An extension that I think the kids will like is to take a trip to our local weather station in Lawton and let them see place their self. Another idea will be to have the kids predict the weather for the week and see who can get close to real prediction. ( )

Weather Forecasting by Gail Gibbons is another nonfiction book that is excellent because it shares with the reader that weather is always changing. This book not only goes in great detail of different types of weather, but explains that meteorologists and weather forecasters are the ones who predict the weather. Children will enjoy the simple explanations of why clouds will vary on different days. They will also benefit from the bold definitions in the book discussing different instruments that weather forecasters use to predict the weather. There is also a page on the different types of clouds, and how weather forecasters study them all the time and how clouds are weather indicators. This book describes the different changes in weather throughout the seasons as well. For example, the various storms that can take place during the different weather changes. This is a wonderful nonfiction book that may not thoroughly go in depth about clouds, but it does with weather and how it is always changing. Since clouds are a part of weather, this would be a great resource for students to learn about weather in general. ( )
