Motivated by the countries current race relations and how Viola left the comforts of a white middle-class standard of living in 1965 to advocate for the voting rights of African American people. Viola had nothing to gain and everything to lose, gave her life for humanity and is the forgotten sacrifice that has helped make life better socially, economically, politically and spiritually for millions of Americans. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. who would become a martyr approximately three years later stated at Viola's funeral, "if physical death is the price some must pay to save us and our white brothers from eternal death of the spirit, then no sacrifice could be more redemptive." Viola's story is one that should never die. No se han encontrado descripciones de biblioteca. |
