Fiction. Mystery. Thriller. HTML:

FBI profiler Sayer Altair hunts a brilliant serial killer with a dangerous obsession in Caged, a gripping thriller audiobook from debut author Ellison Cooper.
In a residential Washington, D.C. neighborhood, a young woman's body is found in the basement of an abandoned houseâ??starved to death in a cage, along with the video footage of a dark and deadly ritual. The victim is identified as the daughter of a prominent D.C. politician, and it falls to the FBI to track down the unconscionable psychopath who murdered her.
FBI special agent Sayer Altair would rather conduct research on criminality than catch actual criminals. But when she's offered a promotion hinging on her next assignment, she reluctantly accepts the "Cage Killer" case. Taunted by a photo of another victim at the mercy of this vicious killer, Sayer and her team are driven to put an end to these grisly homicides.
During the investigation, clues emerge connecting the murders to Sayer's past. Now, the stakes are personal, and the deeper Sayer is drawn into the deadly web, the more she believes she is the only one who can uncover the killer's identity.
Told with devastating detail, shocking twists and unrelenting suspense, Cooper proves her exceptional ability to entertain and enthrall.

Ellison Cooper channels equal parts Kathy Reichs and Thomas Harris in this fiendishly clever thriller that pits and up and coming FBI agent against an exceptionally cold and calculating killer. When a young girl is found dead in a cage, FBI neuroscientist Sayer Altair must take a break from her research into the brains of serial killers. This killer seems to be very sadistic, letting the young victim slowly starve to death, but strangely, had given the girl a puppy. The case is complicated further by the fact that the girl is the daughter of a senator. Sayer tries to figure out the killers motive, but the situation becomes dire when they realize another girl is locked up somewhere...

I received an ARC from #netgalley in exchange for an honest review. OH. MY. WORD. This book is BRILLIANT. As most of you read in the description, it’s a psychological thriller. This book kept me guessing my misdirection the whole time, and I love that. An author should be smarter than I am and make my mind stretch. That’s why I read. I rarely give five stars but this book deserves everyone of them. Sayer Altair is put in charge of Caged Killer case. Unfortunately there is a leak on her team-straight to the media. Another girl is found, barely alive and then a third is take. Why does the killer call them 9.1, 9.2, and 9.3? What is Sayer’s boss keeping from her? Read. This. Book ( )

I enjoy reading books about serial killers and the detectives that solve the cases to put these killers behind bars. I was excited to begin a new series involving Special Agent Sayer Altair.
In this installment, Sayer is assigned to find a killer who is keeping young girls caged in underground rooms. The killer is conducting experiments on them. Sayer has to find the connection between these girls and try to reach them before they die.
While I feel the book could have been stronger, I do want to read more from this author, as I hope that the characters introduced in this novel will become more fully developed as the series continues.

I’ve been looking for a good police procedural series for a bit now and with Caged by Ellison Cooper, I think I may have found it. I’ll know for sure after I read the second book in the Agent Sayer Altair series, Buried, if this one being so good was a fluke or not!

Caged was a fast paced serial killer thriller filled with great character development and a multi-level puzzle that had me guessing until towards the end. Cooper mentioned one clue that I thought was too big to overlook and it was at that point I was pretty sure I knew who was the killer. I really enjoyed how the clues and twists were laid out so evenly in the book and not everything being rushed at the end.

Sayer has some quirks to her which made her character even better; riding a motorcycle with a sidecar (so she can transport dogs and grandmas when need be!) and she was able to keep her emotions together… until she wasn’t, just like most of us. This made Sayer feel even more real to me. I also enjoyed how laid back her partner was and I can’t wait to get to know even more about her neighbor, Tino.

If you do read Caged and enjoy it as much as I did, you may want to try the Archie Sheridan and Gretchen Lowell series by Chelsea Cain… one I always love to recommend… and it seems I might be recommending the Agent Sayer Altair series all the time now too. ( )
